Processor: Pentium D 940 (3.2 GHZ)    -  decided

++ Chipsets:
1.   P965  -  No PATA!! Where to connect DVD?!
2.   945P  -   Best option
3.   945PL  -  Max 2GB compared to max 4GB of 945P
http://indigo.intel.com/compare_cpu/showchart.aspx?mmID=22754,8764,142&familyID=10&culture=en-US

++ Motherboards:
MSI

Asus

1. P5B -  965 chipset (core 2 duo ready), external sata,
2. P5B-deluxe -  as P5B plus firewire, 'fanless' design, array mic, more sata channels, etc
3. P5LD2 & P5LD2 - Deluxe. Confusing details online. Some saw ICH7, some ICH7R :(  Otherwise look like fairly typical boards.   $562 & $638

++ Cards
7600 GS  standard speeds are - 400MHz - core and memory. Cards will likely come pre-overclocked.
