VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Husky beach volleyball team completed a successful run against its Northwest rivals today, beating Boise State, 4-1, at Frenchman's Bar Park in Vancouver a day after picking up wins against Portland and Oregon. Two more new pairings picked up wins today to help the Dawgs.
Washington's top two pairs completed 3-0 weekends with wins today.
Destiny Julye and
Kristen Gengenbacher won again at the No. 1 spot, 21-17, 21-17, over Boise State's Walley and Bodine. At No. 2,
Kara Bajema and
Shayne McPherson figured things out after a first set loss, dominating set two by a 21-7 score and winning the third, 15-10.
Senior
Cat McCoy and sophomore
Avie Niece teamed up for the first time at No. 3 and had a 21-19, 21-17 win over BSU's McDonald and Johnson. Sophomore
Samantha Drechsel and freshman Kyra Peterson then fought back against Allen/Lewis, pulling out set two in extra points in a 16-21, 23-21, 15-11 win at No. 4.
Boise State's point came at the No. 5 position where
Emma Calle and
Lauren Sanders dropped a 21-16, 21-18 match to Hanses/Watkins.
The Dawgs (3-3) will have a week off before traveling to Long Beach, Calif. for four matches on Mar. 22-23.
