Coastal Releases APR Scores

May 24, 2018

CONWAY - All of Coastal Carolina’s intercollegiate sports posted multi-year scores above 950 for the third consecutive year, according to the Academic Progress Rate (APR) statistics that were released by the NCAA this week. Additionally, 11 of Coastal’s 18 countable sports had a score of 980 or higher.

The Chanticleer women’s tennis program led the Department with a perfect rate of 1,000. Lacrosse (994), men’s tennis (993) and women’s golf (991) followed. Scoring at 980 or above were women’s soccer (989), women’s cross country (988), indoor volleyball and men’s golf (985), softball (983), men’s track (982), and men’s basketball (980).

Previously announced was the success of the women’s tennis and beach volleyball programs, both of which earned the NCAA Public Recognition Award for scoring in the top 10 percent of their sports.

The APR is a point system based on scholarship student-athletes’ eligibility and retention for a pre-determined four-year time period. NCAA sports falling below the established point multi-year cutoff (930) may be subject to penalties including scholarship reductions. For purposes of APR reporting, indoor and outdoor track & field teams are combined.
