Romee Strijd + Mint In ELLE Netherlands June 2021 by Pablo Delfos

Former Victoria’s Secret Angel Romee Strijd has a new life with longtime partner Laurens van Leeuwen and their baby girl Mint. There was a time when Strijd spoke openly about her concerns of being able to conceive a child, after her diagnosis of PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome). The health-conscious model went seven years without a menstrual period.

Creating blame is irrelevant, given all that has changed in the blond beauty’s life and with the Victoria’s Secret brand. Concerns about gaining weight — especially before a VS fashion show — put Romee and her body in a state of constant fight or flight mode. She ate little and spent hours in the gym, being ruthless against the natural functions of her body.

“This was the point where I started to research natural healing for PCOS and came to the conclusion that I should do way less high intensity training, don’t restrict foods, be nice to myself, and take breaks when needed. I also tried some natural supplements, acupuncture and we got a place back in the Netherlands as well, so we could spend more time with Family (since I’m such a family person),” Strijd explained in announcing to friends and fans that she was now pregnant.

Fast forward to October 2020, when Romee Strijd covered the Vogue ‘Netherland’ Motherhood issue, shot in the 26th week of pregnancy. Daughter Mint arrived in early December, 2020.

Romee and Laurens, moved from New York to Zoetermeer, located about 10 miles north of Rotterdam. They have a new company, Naetur : a jewelry brand with expressive jewelry that is also affordable.
