Lot 73

1990 Jaguar V12 Sport Coupe
***NO RESERVE***

Registration - H860 BND

Chassis No. - SAJJNAED3EJ192818

M.O.T. - August 2024

Odometer - 69,467

A Jaguar that has aged beautifully, this example of the XJS was fitted with a TWR body styling kit from new by Hollingdrake Jaguar Wilmslow at a cost of nearly £4000 presented in Signal Red, ‘H860 BND’ comes with a cream leather interior including Bordeaux carpets and seat belts, and extensive amounts of wood veneer trim. Powered by Jaguar’s 5.3-litre V12 engine and three-speed automatic transmission, the TWR body kit sees subtle but important changes to the styling, including bumpers and side skirts, and rear wing. First registered in 1990, this XJS has only had four keepers, one of which owned the car for 26 years. The vendor has had ‘H860 BND’ for two years, and is only looking for a sale due to relocation overseas. It comes with a large service history file, and also a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate from January 2017. The entire vehicle is described as in ‘excellent’ throughout by the vendor, with 69,000 miles on the odometer, and considers that it will take very little time and work to turn ‘H860 BND’ into a concours-level example.

Following numerous delays, the second generation Jaguar XJ6 (or XJ40 to use its code name) and its Daimler counterparts were introduced in October 1986. The newcomer was the product of an astonishing 4,890,000 miles of testing in Arizona, Canada, Australia and around the Nardo test track, Italy – a record level of commitment for a Jaguar at that time. At this stage the line-up didn’t include a 12-cylinder option however, the engine bay apparently being too narrow to house a unit of V configuration. Ford set about solving the problem when it took over Jaguar-Daimler in 1989, and the new 6-litre V12 cars (code name XJ81) finally came to market in 1993. The engines were mated to the equally new GM 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission.

In summary:

· Just four owners and 69,000 miles from new

· Dealer-fitted Tom Walkinshaw Racing kit

· In immaculate condition inside and out
