1991 Peugeot 205 Rallye 1.3L

This 1991 Peugeot 205 Rallye is finished in white over black cloth and is powered by a 1.3-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes 13” steel wheels, manual steering, a Sparco shift knob, a Kenwood cassette stereo, and red carpets and front seatbelts. The car is said to have been delivered new to Spain and later spent time in the UK before being imported to the US by the seller in 2021. This 205 now shows 63k kilometers (~39k miles) and is offered in California with manufacturer’s literature, service records, a Carfax report, and a clean Montana title in the name of the seller’s LLC.

The 205 Rallye was designed as an affordable option for Group N racing with dry weight reduced to approximately 1,750 pounds and a drivetrain and suspension engineered by Peugeot-Talbot Sport. Each 205 Rallye was finished in white from the factory with revised wheel arch flares, integrated rear fog lights, red model designation decals, and Peugeot-Talbot Sport stripes on the grille, sides, and liftgate. The seller notes evidence of paintwork under previous ownership.

Body-color 13” steel wheels wear Peugeot center caps and are mounted with 165/70 Toyo Nanoenergy 3 tires. The car features manual steering, and the suspension, front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes on the Rallye were shared with the 205 GTi 1.6.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black cloth with red stitching and Peugeot-Talbot Sport logos embroidered on the front seatbacks. Weight was reduced by eliminating soundproofing and other amenities, such as the glove box lid and center dashboard vents. A Kenwood AM/FM cassette stereo is connected to Pioneer speakers, and additional features include a Sparco shift knob, a fuel cut-off switch, hand-crank front windows, pop-out rear quarter windows, and red carpets and front seat belts. Wear is visible on the driver’s heel pad, which can be seen in the gallery below.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel wears a Peugeot-Talbot Sport logo and frames a 230-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 63k kilometers (~39k miles).

The 1.3-liter TU24 inline-four features twin two-barrel Weber carburetors along with a revised camshaft. Factory-rated output was 102 horsepower and 89 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle. Service performed in 2016 at approximately 54k kilometers (~34k Miles) is said to have included replacement of the timing belt, valves, and valve springs. The car is equipped with an aftermarket muffler and has not passed a California emissions test.

Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale.

The Carfax report lists no accidents or other damage from its first entry in July 2021.
