Tournament Field No. 4 LSU, No. 5 Florida State, No. 10 South Carolina, UAB





BOCA RATON, Fla. -  The 17th ranked Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team continues its 2019 campaign by hosting one of the most competitive fields in the country for the Burrow Beach Bash tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Owls will play no. 10 South Carolina at 10 a.m. and no. 4 LSU at 4 p.m. on Friday, then face UAB and no. 5 Florida State on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively. Live stats will be provided for all of the FAU matches throughout the weekend.
ABOUT THE OWLS
  • FAU started the same lineup for all four matches last weekend
  • Of the 10 players in the lineup, four are seniors, one junior, three are sophomores and two are freshmen
 
LAST WEEK
  • FAU swept Webber International, no. 19 TCU, North Florida and Florida Southern in the Paradise at the Burrow tournament last weekend
  • The Owls have started the season 4-0 for the first time in program history
  • FAU's accomplishment was recognized by the NCAA Volleyball Instagram account
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • FAU's record against the tournament field is 4-18
  • The Owls are winless versus both South Carolina and Florida State, having an 0-7 record against both schools
  • LSU leads the all-time series against FAU 4-3
  • FAU beat the Blazers in their only previous meeting, at the 2017 CCSA Tournament
 
SCOUTING THE FIELD
  • South Carolina, LSU and Florida State all played in the FSU Invitational last weekend.
  • No. 11 South Carolina (1-3) had a tough time, losing three of its four matches. Its only victory came against the University of Tampa
  • No. 4 LSU won all four of its matches, including 3-2 victories over both South Carolina and Florida State
  • The fifth-ranked Seminoles took four of its five matches last weekend, the only setback coming at the hands of LSU
  • UAB went 4-0 at its home tournament, defeating Jacksonville State, North Alabama, Louisiana-Monroe and Huntingdon at the Blazer Beach Bash
 
 
UP NEXT
  • FAU will travel south to participate in the FIU Fort Lauderdale Invitational on Friday, March 15
