The Basics
- The FIU volleyball team was held to just a .057 hitting percentage while Florida Gulf Coast hit at a .350 percent clip, as the Eagles took care of the Panthers, 3-0, in straight sets (19-25, 12-25, 15-25) in the final non-conference match for both schools on Tuesday night in Fort Myers. FIU drops to 14-8 overall on the season, while FGCU improves to 18-6 on the year. The straight set setback was FIU's first since Sept. 14, when the Panthers lost to No. 11 Florida in Gainesville, 3-0, a stretch of 10 matches.
 
- Margherita Bianchin (Venice, Italy) led the Panthers with 10 kills, while Abbie Hughes (Mason, Ohio) recorded 20 assists and Lina Bernier (San Juan, Puerto Rico) turned in 19 digs.
 
- FIU could never find its groove offensively during the night, not hitting higher than .146 percent, with that coming in the first set of the match, a 25-19 loss. FGCU put together its best set of the match in the second, hitting .447 percent. After the match was tied in the second, 7-7, the Eagles closed out the set with a 16-4 run en route to the win.

Up Next
Following their match at FGCU, the Panthers hit the road for their next four, beginning at Charlotte on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., before closing out the week at Florida Atlantic on Oct. 28, at 12 p.m. FIU will also travel to WKU on Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. and Marshall on Nov. 4, at 1 p.m.
