Description
Zoom on the DuroMax XP15000EH
In a nutshell, the DuroMax XP15000EH is a powerful portable generator mostly geared towards professionals who want to ensure that a power failure will not prevent them from working.
Over the following sections, you'll uncover its power characteristics, the selection of outlets it offers, its overall portability, and the supplementary features it includes.
Power & Run Time
The DuroMax XP15000EH, equipped with dual-fuel technology and delivering 120/240V, ensures both power and versatility. Running on gasoline, it delivers a running wattage of 12,000W and a starting wattage of 15,000W. On propane, it provides 11,400 running watts and 14,250 starting watts.
With a noise rating of 83 dBA (just slightly more noisy than an alarm clock), the generator's ignition is facilitated by a hassle-free and practical electric starter (battery included).
As for its running time, the XP15000EH, along with its 10.6 gallons fuel capacity, can run for around 8 hours at 50% load with a full tank filled with gasoline (fuel consumption around 1.33 GPH). If propane is used, it can operate for around 2.7 hours (on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 1.74 GPH).
Since the XP15000EH has a somewhat high THD (<12%), it is advisable to not use it for the powering of sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
The control panel includes the following 7 AC outlets:
Though it may not be labeled as 'RV Ready,' this DuroMax generator offers the benefit of hassle-free RV connectivity through its L5-30R receptacle, allowing you to easily power your RV with the assistance of an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Besides, as the XP15000EH holds a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, it is transfer switch ready: you'll easily be able to connect it to your breaker box to power your home during a power outage.
Portability
With dimensions of L30 x W33 x H35 in, the traditional open frame design of the DuroMax XP15000EH ensures stability while allowing easy maintenance access to components and promoting effective air cooling. The generator is designed for ideal use outdoors and in rough environments.
Despite its weight of 380 lbs, the generator is still considered 'portable,' meaning it is movable, although its heftiness may restrict portability in certain environments or require additional considerations for transportation and setup. However, the constrained maneuverability is addressed with the assistance of its wheel kit (⌀12") and its folding handle, allowing for easy shifting once the generator is placed on the ground.
In addition, the device is equipped with a lift hook on the top of its frame, which provides extra safety during the loading, unloading and transport of the generator.
Features
Included in the control panel of the XP15000EH are a convenient meter, providing voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours data, essential for monitoring its status and activity.
In addition to this info, when the oil level is too low, you will be informed by the featured light indicator.
The generator allows for a quick, easy and convenient assessment of its gas level, as it is equipped with a built-in fuel gauge.
Regarding security, the generator comes with an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), providing peace of mind during operation.
Beyond the standard documentation and an owner's manual to assist with setup, the DuroMax XP15000EH ships with supplementary accessories: funnel, tool kit and propane hose.

The DuroMax XP15000EH versus other generators
The following charts are provided to give you an idea of how some of the key specs of the DuroMax XP15000EH compare to dual fuel generators of similar power (between 10000 and 14000 W).
- Weighing 380 lbs, the DuroMax XP15000EH is one of the heaviest dual fuel generators within the 10000-14000 rated wattage bracket. If you are mindful of weight, the Pulsar PG13000BRCO is among the top contenders in this power range, with a dry weight of 231 pounds.
- As this generator has its lowest possible noise of 83 dBA, it should be considered noisier compared to its peers of a comparable running wattage. If noise level is one your key decisive factors, you may find the DuroMax XP16000iH appealing. It's rated at 67 dBA, making it one of the quietest generators in its power range.
- Concerning its runtime, the XP15000EH provides around 8 hours at a 50% load, indicating that it falls on the lower side compared to other generators of its type and power range. If you consider autonomy on a single full tank as one of the deciding factors, one of the generators in the same power range that offers the highest run time is the DuroMax XP15000HX, with around 12 hours.
- Though run time is a significant parameter, it's closely tied to the generator's fuel tank size. To get a comprehensive understanding, fuel efficiency must also be taken into account. In terms of fuel efficiency within its wattage range, this generator falls short: it consumes approximately 1.33 GPH at a 50% load. If you wish to acquire one of the most gasoline efficient products of this power range, the Westinghouse WGen12000DF, with a fuel consumption of 0.95 GPH could be in your good books.

User Reviews
This has been a reliable and trustworthy generator that I use for whole home backup. The only concern that I have is finding parts for it. The owners manual does not give you a list of part numbers for things like oil filters, air filters, brushes, etc. and the parts installed on the generator have no markings or part numbers either.
