  • Deciduous tree, 35-45 ft (11-14 m), rounded, dense branching.  Bark attractive, peeling and/or flaking, varies in color from brownish yellow, reddish brown and cinnamon brown.  Leaves alternate, simple, elliptic to oblong-ovate, 5-10 cm long, finely serrate.  White flowers on 2-8 cm clusters in late spring.  Fruit red than maturing to black in late summer, 6 mm diameter.
  • Sun.  Best in well-drained soil.  Best suited to cold climates.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 2      Native to Korea and Manchuria.
