Summary

Liposarcoma of the scrotum

The liposarcoma of the scrotum is a rare condition. Recommendations regarding diagnostics and treatment are mostly based upon case reports and expert opinions. Early diagnosis and accurate treatment benefit local control and increase the chance of curation. Surgical resection is the mainstay of treatment. In low grade liposarcomas of the scrotum a radical resection with limited margins is sufficient. These liposarcomas do not metastasize, but have a high incidence of local recurrence. Therefore, the follow up should be aimed at early detection of local recurrence. Adjuvant radiotherapy probably reduces the risk of local recurrence without having an effect on overall survival.
