QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's volleyball team dropped straight sets to Illinois-Springfield on Saturday afternoon.
Play by Play
Illinois-Springfield was on the attack early in set one. The Prairie Stars jumped out to a 9-4 lead.
Quincy answered the bell and tied the game at 14-14. QU gained the lead 15-14 after a block by
Baylie Stephens.
UIS went back ahead after back-to-back points made the score 18-16.
The Hawks responded again and tied the game at 20-20.
Sarah Brown put QU ahead 21-20 with a kill.
The Hawks held the lead 23-22, before UIS scored the last three points to take set one 25-23.
Set 2
Illinois-Springfield came out firing again to start the second set. The Prairie Stars built an early 8-1 lead after scoring five straight.
Quincy rattled off seven straight including a kill by
Stephanie Mizeur to tie the game at 8-8.
The Prairie Stars moved back ahead 17-12, but the Hawks once again battled back and cut the deficit to 20-18.
UIS went on to seal the second set with a 25-21 victory.
Set 3
Both teams were tied 3-3 after the first six points.
Illinois-Springfield moved in front 11-7 after a kill by Tiffany Whitaker.
The Hawks attempted to chip into the UIS lead after a bad set made the score 20-17 favoring Springfield.
The Prairie Stars went on the take the third set and the game with a 25-18 win.
