TexAnns sweep LSC weekly awards

STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Volleyball was awarded all three weekly awards from the Lone Star Conference after the TexAnns went 3-0 to extend their record winning streak to 20. Hannah McManus, Adrianna Knutson, and Blanca Izquierdo were named the top offensive player, defensive player, and setter in the league.
 
McManus had a career week offensively for No. 11 Tarleton. McManus had 28 kills and 3.11 kills per set in three matches while hitting .578 for the week, leading the team in all three categories.
 
She had five kills in a road win Angelo State to give the Rambelles their first home loss of the season. She added nine kills against Eastern New Mexico and a career-high 14 against West Texas A&M. Her 14 kills against WT came on a .737 hitting percentage, which is the second best mark in program history for a single game.
 
Knutson led the No. 11 Tarleton defense with a team-leading 41 digs in three matches as the TexAnns went 3-0 for the week with three sweeps while holding opponents to a .127 hitting percentage.
 
The senior libero had 11 digs in a road win at Angelo State to give the Rambelles their first home loss of the season. The senior from San Antonio followed with 13 digs against Eastern New Mexico and 17 digs against West Texas A&M. Knutson continues to climb the all-time Tarleton digs list as she's 35 away from setting the school record.
 
Izquierdo paced the No. 11 Tarleton offense with 72 assists on the week.
 
She had 23 assists in a road win at Angelo State to give the Rambelles their first home loss of the season. She followed with 21 assists against Eastern New Mexico and 28 assists against West Texas A&M. With Izquierdo leading the offense, Tarleton hit .281 for the week, including a .312 hitting percentage against West Texas A&M, which is the ninth game to hit .300 or better this season for the TexAnns.
 
It is the third career award for McManus, all of which have come this season, and the first offensive award for the senior middle from Caldwell. It's the first career award for Knutson and the second for Izquierdo.
 
No. 11 Tarleton will take on Texas A&M-Kingsville tonight at 7 p.m. in the Steinke Center before returning home for the final two matches of the regular season in Wisdom Gym this weekend.
