NEW ORLEANS, La. – Another weather-altered weekend began Thursday morning for the University of Central Arkansas beach volleyball team as they wrap up the 2019 campaign at the Southland Showcase at the Digs Volleyball Complex.
UCA (5-9) opened the event with 1-4 setback to host-New Orleans and ended the day with a 0-3 loss to Texas A&M Corpus-Christi.
NEW ORLEANS 4, UCA 1
- Kellen Dunn and Faith Hasness earned a 21-18, 21-16 straight-set victory in the No. 4 pairing. The duo improved to 2-3 on the season.
- In an extra match, Kimmy Schnars and Kayla Cook picked up their first victory of the season with a 21-18, 21-15 victory. It was the first time the couple had been paired together this season.
- Mackenzie Dear and Aly Brinkley fell by a 19-21, 17-21 margin to the Privateer No. 3 grouping.
TEXAS A&M-CC 3, UCA 0
- Tippett and Hamilton dropped a heartbreaking 20-22, 19-21 thriller to the Islanders No. 1 pair in the opening match.
- Dunn and Hasness fell to 1-1 on the day with a 16-21, 19-21 loss in the No. 4 pairing. Sager and Douglas were also unsuccessful, dropping an 18-21, 18-21 result in the No. 5 group.
- The Dear/Brinkley and Martinez/Dunagin pairing each were in the midst of their third set when the other matches ended, causing their results to remain unfinished.
