A bride-to-be has faced backlash online after quitting her job to focus on wedding planning - while also encouraging her fiancé to find a second job.

Taking to Reddit for advice, the anonymous woman wrote: “My fiancé and I are having lots of issues right now. We can't stop fighting and I don't know what to do.”

“I quit my job because wedding planning was taking up so much time, and my fiancé is refusing to get a second job,” she explained.

“He doesn't understand that I don't have time to get ready for work, be somewhere else all day, and drive home.

“I need to be home to plan this wedding.”

The bride then goes on to explain that she has tried to find a job that she can do from home but has been unsuccessful therefore the cost of their $80,000 (approximately £45,135) wedding will fall on her husband-to-be.

“He keeps saying that we should spend less,” she added. “Uh, hello, no. This is my wedding I have been dreaming of since I was little. How can I convince him to get a second job to pay for this?”

Unsurprisingly, fellow Reddit users weren’t exactly rushing to the bride’s defence in the comments section with a number of them telling the groom to “get out”.

“This isn't just a red flag,” one wrote. “This is a strobe light with a few fog horns attached to it.”

“Air raid sirens give less warning,” a second user quipped.

Another believes the bride is being selfish, adding: “Well, that marriage won't last. Hope the guy gets out before they even marry by the looks of how self-centred the bride is.”

“Life isn't a fairytale. A wedding shouldn't be about leaving your income behind and harassing your fiancé to work like a slave so you can impress people for a day,” a fourth user wrote.

“He still wants to marry you despite that because he just needs to honour the meaning and yet you act like it's a betrayal. How pathetic. The poor dude deserves better.”

After reading the post, others realised how grateful they should be for their own partners and relationships.

“I need to appreciate my girlfriend's ‘if we ever wind up getting married let's just go do it at the courthouse and then throw a party for our friends’ sentiment a lot more,” one commented.

Another agreed, adding that they would also rather throw a small affair than risk their relationship turning sour.

‘I don't want to get married, but my girlfriend of many years said the same thing,” a second wrote. “If we ever do get married, let's just go get the papers and take a couple days trip camping or something.”
