Scarlet Cup Theater presents “RED,” Feb. 27-March 1 and March 5-8, at The Advocate-Messenger, 330 S. Fourth St., Danville. SCT’s kicks off its fifth season with an intimate look at the troubled artist, Mark Rothko, who was a Russian-born, American-raised abstract expressionist. “Death of a Salesman,” by Arthur Miller, March 13-15 and 20-22 at West T. Hill Community Theatre, 117 Larrimore Lane, Danville. The 1949 winner of the Pulitzer Prise and Tony Award for Best Play, this story revolves around the last days of Willy Loman, a failing salesman who cannot understand how success has eluded him.  His quest for “The American Dream” keeps him blind to the people who truly love him.  This classic work is a profound drama of the American theater experience. Black Film Festival, 6 p.m. Thursdays in February at BCPL, Danville. In celebration of Black History Month, the Danville Boyle County African American Historical Society is partnering with the library to present screenings of four films on Thursday evenings in February. Each film highlights an aspect of Black life in much of the country and in Boyle County. One film will be shown each week. Films are listed on the library’s website.

Murder Mystery: The Skeleton in the Closet, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at BCPL, Danville. When building inspectors find a skeleton and a suitcase in the concealed closet of an abandoned home, a cold case becomes hot. Old suspects are rounded up, and a special task force is brought in to determine who among them has been hiding a dirty little secret. Playing the role of detectives, you will review a crime scene and interview live suspects to gather evidence as you try to solve the murder. For ages 13 and up.
