Subwoofer Array 4 subwoofers with 2 separate amplifiers- James Romeyn/ AudioKinesis DEBRA (also see SWARM)

DEBRA (Distributed Enhanced Bass Reflex Array)

This subwoofer array is a special dual amplifier version from James Romeyn that comes with 2 amplifiers for increased performance and adjustability beyond the standard edition DEBRA shown on their website. This edition includes 2 amplifiers to power 4 subwoofers (the standard edition uses only 1 amplifier to power all 4 subs). The amplifiers are in excellent condition and the speakers are great condition as well. 1 of the tops of the subs came with a small paint defect on top of and one of the others has  small scuffs on top. The paint defect is less than the size of a dime and there is no paint missing (an imperfection in the finish from manufacturer/ not scratched). The finish from them is original and is an eggshell kind of finish more towards or semi gloss/ semi-flat. All is in perfect operating condition and was tested again right before packaging everything up in their original boxes. The sale of these is due to new living room plans that unfortunately exclude having 4 subwoofers. The standard DEBRA edition with only 1 amplifier is $4,250 on their website.  The 2 amplifier version obviously costs more since there is an additional amplifier at $4750.00. I saved all the original boxes and packaging for the 4 DEBRA subs and the 2 amplifiers. I purchased this directly from James Romeyn's in 2018. Due to work/time demands, I don’t have a chance to listen as often as I’d like to and my system has mostly been used a couple times a month for 2-3 hours each listening session. The DEBRA is from the same person who invented the SWARM. They are functionally identical. The difference is the footprint” The SWARM has a square footprint 12”x12” and the DEBRA has a rectangular footprint of 13.75” x 9.5” which “hugs” the wall a bit better.

I was pleasantly surprised and how much it improved the bass issues my room had. I had lots of spots that were completely missing certain bass notes and bass also varied widely depending on which seat I sat in. Afterward, I had a much better and more even and smooth bass response in the room and was able to hear bass notes I didn’t know existed. It did take some experimentation with the 4 sub placements, but once there were setup, I never had to touch them again. The amplifiers have parametric EQ, but I never used it. I only used the phase knobs, frequency, and gain. All the knobs have a neat feature. You can push and release for them to pop out, make your adjustment, then push back in and they stay flush with the front of the amp for a cleaner appearance. The amplifiers were setup so the 2 front subs were on 1 amp and the 2 rear subs were on the other amp. This is the way I had it setup, but your results may vary. I’m not a tech wizard, but was told that this uses dual voice coil drivers and that is important that 2 of the subs are connected to each amplifer when in use since that is the correct amount of ohms/load the amplifier needs. (4 ohms per amplifier). This is how I had it setup and it worked great for me. . Each sub has a 10” driver. Since this one is the dual amp application each sub employs dual voice coil drivers which cost an additional $50 each for 8 ohm per sub. Each amp directly drives two parallel 8 ohm subs with yield the needed 4 ohm load for each amplifier when 2 subs are connected to each amplifier.

Items Included in this sale: 
2 Dayton Audio SA-1000. Each amplifier is carefully packaged in their original double box. Each box has it's own owner's manual (2 total), optional rack mount brackets ( never used them), and each has the OEM power cables (new/unused as well).

4 DEBRA subwoofers- each sub will be first placed in a plastic bag and boxed separately with the original isulfoam packing material as shown in the photo. This is the same manufacturers packaging it came with that I saved. These subs came with sorbethane feet that keep them off the ground and the port is at the bottom of the enclosure as seen in one of the photos. The speaker terminals are also at the bottom of each sub. Both amplifiers have a super-bright blue LED on the front when they are powered on. I listen in a failry dark room and couldn't stand the bright leds, so they have little plastic covers that fit right over the tiny LED bulb. If you'd rather see the LED's, you can simply just take them off/ no hassle to remove. 


There are a total of 6 boxes in the shipment
Each of the 4x subwoofer boxes are 17x17x30 and 53 lbs each
The 2 amplifier boxes are 22x19x9 and 35 lbs each.

There is no warranty remaining on either the subs or the amps, but as mentioned- everything works perfectly when tested just before packing everything up.

The buyer is responsible for actual shipping costs and any insurance through UPS. If you are within an hour of La Verne, CA 91750, I will also be willing to deliver for free to help.
