- A: AnswerI have a similar Brother unit MFC-j480dw ( which lighting just killed) and it won't work with just black. If all you want is black take a look at Laser printers- if you don't do a lot of printing it might be the way to go

- A: AnswerThe Brother MFC-J1010DW is not a dual tray printer, this model only has one tray. For Brother printers that are dual trays printers, you can switch between which tray you wish to print with. The machine is designed to stop all printing operations when any of the ink cartridges are low. This is to ensure the life of the print head and maintain premium print quality. If the unit were to continue printing, print jobs and cleaning cycles would suck air from the empty cartridge and damage the print head.

This printer has been a lot of help is very easy to use it saves me from having to go get copies when I need them it's the best choice I have made the price was the best and being able to pay in payments helps a lot I would of never been able to purchase one without the credit card thanks a lot it's been a lot of help I already recommended it to my kids and family .

Good value
Not the best quality printing and color print jobs are quite slow but for the price it gets the job done. Setup was very straight forward. I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Good for the price
I had difficulty connecting the printerand reached out to customer support for this printer He courteously walked me thru every option explaining as he went. I was then able to figure out what was wrong with my computer and get everything working. I like this printer it does exactly what I need it to. I haven't tried printing photos but for my work needs it is quick quiet and convenient.
