Excess baggage! Liev Schreiber pushes son Alexander along with his luggage as he and Naomi Watts arrive at LAX

They enjoyed the holidays together at home in New York.

And only two day into the new year, actress Naomi Watts and partner Liev Schreiber were back to jet-setting.

The couple were spotted at LAX on Friday with their sons Alexander, seven, and Samuel, six, in tow - with cheeky Alexander (aka Sasha) hitching a lift on the luggage trolley.

Naomi, 46, looked make-up free and a little tired after the long flight with her blonde locks tied away from her face and sporting a pair of black spectacles.

The Three Generations actress kept warm in jeans, a chunky grey jumper, a woolen coat and a snugly wrapped scarf.

She held on tightly to Samuel's hand as they navigated the busy airport road.

Liev meanwhile was also showing the effects of a long journey, looking weary and covering his head in a baseball cap.

The actor and producer was casual in a grey T-shirt and black blazer and jeans.

Liev is preparing to shoot the third season of his popular Showtime series Ray Donovan which just earned the star a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a TV Series Drama.

Filming the show in LA means that the father-of-two is away from home for six months out of the year.

Naomi will also be looking forward to the awards season.

Her efforts in St. Vincent have earned her a nomination at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, named as a contender in the supporting actress category for the comedy-drama, which also stars Melissa McCarthy.

Naomi is also nominated for a second SAG as part of the ensemble cast of Birdman, black comedy about an actor whose career nosedived after playing a superhero.

The couple are regularly seen on the school run with their boys, sometimes bundling onto bicycles to navigate the busy streets of Manhattan.

The hands-on parents are regularly seen spending quality time together and last year Naomi talked about looking forward to Christmas.

‘I'm a bit of a sucker for Christmas and all the imaginary stuff, like the elf on the shelf [an American tradition],' she says in an interview with Sun Herald.

Juggling motherhood and an Oscar worthy career is a matter of balance and careful consideration for Naomi who says, 'I've turned down a lot of films that took me away for too long or didn't work with Liev's show.'

The star has many projects set to release next year, including Three Generations, The Sea Of Trees, Insurgent, and Demolition.
