Good monitor for home workers
I own 2 of them and use them in extended desktop as a remote working IT professional. The multiple video connection options make set up easy. Picture color and contrast are great. The only thing I wish they had is taller stands.

I have to say it doesn't get much better than the Asus vh242h for the money. If you're looking for a 24" monitor on a budget, this is the way to go. You'll find rich deep colors with great detail. The monitors work well for video and are decent for gaming. Text is easy to read thanks to the small pixel pitch. I run 4 of these on my MacPro off nVidia GeForce graphics cards and the quality is better than the comparable ViewSonic monitor (my Asus monitors replaced 4 vx series ViewSonics). The Asus monitor is light weight so if you're running a custom mount or any other configuration other than the factory mount, you'll feel safe. I've read a couple other reviews online that complain of dead pixels, but I've ran my 4 for over a year now and haven't had any issues. The monitors are great for ... I have to say it doesn't get much better than the Asus vh242h for the money. If you're looking for a 24" monitor on a budget, this is the way to go. You'll find rich deep colors with great detail. The monitors are great for close viewing, which is important when you're running 1920 X 1080 resolution. About that, I would like to see a 1920 X 1200 version but not holding my breath for that. I set up a friends dorm room using this monitor as a TV/Computer monitor/game monitor. It works 'ok' at best for across the room viewing, even though the room is only 10' X 10', but that's expected for a 24", but I'm a videophile and have a passion for large (92" home theater, 55" living room monitor). The size was good for my friend, and the price was perfect. You'll be hard pressed to find a monitor better than the VH242H in the price range.

A stunning monitor for a low price? This is no fantasy: Asus's 23.6" LCD doesnt disappoint. For as little as $170, you too can purchase this amazing model. Go ahead and compare it to other monitors from different brands that are the same price, or size. There is no competition. The VH242H has 3 video inputs: standard VGA, higher quality DVI, and the now common, ultimate-res HDMI. Not many of us have pockets as big as our beds, and even less of us have the time or space to buy and mount an expensive HD t.v. If you have at least a moderately equipped computer, a gaming system, or cable box that you want to enjoy, look no further. You cant exactly call over all your neighbors and comfortably watch the big NFL game from a sofa, but then again, you sure can try. Asus' monitor is fully equipped ... Few drawbacks, if any, can be found. If you're into the sort of thing, you can't swivel the monitor, but it does tilt up and down a few degrees, and you can always put it on a rotating platform. Cable management isn't much of an important factor either, but there is a decently sized hole on the back of the monitor's arm for some arrangement. Perfectionists and anyone bothered by color may be offset that the power button is orange, compared to the rest of the glossy black, but again, it's a nice touch. Of course, don't expect that you'll be going green running something this size. You'll be eating away a nice, approximate 55W while in use. Make sure to have a surge protector! If your still unconvinced, here's some incentive: The VH242H has two built in stereo speakers, located on the back. They, like the rest of the monitor, perform well for the average video, but don't consider them a replacement for a normal stereo or home theater setup. The monitor runs at 1920 x 1080 pixels, with full HD 1080p support. Being an LCD, this monitor can be used to play regular shows. The color setup is 24bit, for a range of over 16 million colors. And, finally, the display ratio is 16:9. A.k.a., it's widescreen. Oh yeah. Did I mention the monitor is a pretty black? So I tell you again: Asus' VH242H is one fantastic piece of work.

Shipping was extremely fast arriving in just a couple days. Impressive monitor anyone could install quickly. Direction booklet enclosed (only a few pages in English which were all encompassing) and well-written in laymen terms. For the price you would be hard-pressed to top this monitor. Vibrant graphics, easy to use lower right bottom buttons for any adjustments you might wish to use. On off button located extreme bottom right side so no fumbling to power on or off. ASUS VH242H 23.6 inch LCD TFT Monitor
I bought this monitor to replace my 19" Samsung 932BW. Talk about a nice change. With a 20000:1 contrast ratio at 1080p over an HDMI cable, this monitor brings out details that I didn't even notice on my other monitor. I gave ease of use a B. You have to power the monitor down when connected via HDMI, (It doesn't automatically enter sleep mode). I didn't have any wobbling, and my stand is pretty sturdy. No problems with backlight bleeding either. My only issue so far is that The Sims 2's resolution settings top out at 1440 x 900, and this monitor can do 1920 x 1080. My other games run great on it, at the full 1920 x 1080, with no problems. For the price of what the big box stores charge for a smaller monitor with a crappy 3000:1 or less contrast ratio (and no HDMI), I got this 24" beauty.I bought this monitor to replace my 19" Samsung 932BW.
