I'm someone who reads the manual and it's a little confusing. The images aren't exact to the items, so a little guessing had to be done. I watched a couple YT videos and it seemed they guessed too. (Ex: all the foam seals look the same in the manual but are not. Also, couldn't tell if the plastic side goes inward or outward?). But I made it work, and it works as needed. Could use a little more foam seal for the cracks. Banana for scale.

Toshiba made me very happy with this product. I appreciate the high quality.

The unit easily cools my 12 by 12 room. Just it isn’t the quietest unit out there but doesn’t bother me as much cause it’s more of a white noise rather than a noise that’s hard to ignore. I would’ve given it 5 stars but the only downside is that it really tends to get caked up with dust so I personally recommend cleaning the unit every month or so.

I bought this 6000 BTU unit for my 250 sf bedroom, a little bit loudly and my power meter shows it’s around 940 watts.

I read most reviews on this model so was confident it would be a good choice. It was also available in stock at my store. Easy installation, except for the excessive stickiness of the foam pieces I had to shower and really scrub my hair to get the sticky off my fingers! I ended up just using the black foam sheets and it's all good! One of the reviews said it kept shutting off and that would wake them at night. THAT is true, when it reaches room temp it shuts off. I need "white noise" to sleep so I put the fan on continuous and the problem is solved. I think it's a lot like a cell phone and has to "learn" your usage requirements? Anyways, I highly recommend this model. It definitely works for me!

I am slightly underwhelmed with this product after the first 30 days. I have an outdoor enclosure [about 100 sq ft] that is sealed up well and has insulated walls. I was expecting a bit better performance in keeping the area cool. I will be adding additional roof insulation soon. I'll report back if this significantly improves my situation. System controls/features, remote operation and installation are five stars.

I was miserable yesterday (it was 86° inside) and it was sweltering in bed (even laying on a frozen towel). I left before 7:00 this morning and went straight to Home Depot and bought one of these. (A worker even got me a flat cart and loaded it for me! I love hat store!) I brought it home (I'm 65 single and 5'3" tall), and I was able to hook everything up properly and get it going without any help. Not only is it nice and cool in here but it's far less humid! They had a stack of these but I bet they fly out the door today.

I bought this unit because I have one room in a dormer on the second floor of my house which gets hit by the sun hard it’s never cool it’s only about 250 ft.². It was very easy install everything basically stopped together without the problems, fired it up … Ice cold . Was able to set the temperatures and so forth get it to where exactly I wanted. It does a great job.

Made it through one season.. Worked great not so much the second season first the exhaust fan died got that repaired and the compressor died that’s what they’re using for Power distribution.. What used to be a relay there’s now some electronic pile of crap that burns out waste of money

Has been getting hotter in seattle the last few days, we searched for something portable as window units are not allowed at our apartment complex. we had very little choice and almost everywhere was sold out. 3 locations were out. We needed this machine quickly as it was getting unbearable inside during 80-90 degree temps outside and has been keeping the room about 10 degrees cooler than it is outside and the sun faces right on our apartment so it’s more comfortable than anything else right now.

Bought one for a 200 sq ft bedroom. It does cool down fairly quickly (thanks to the large BTU and CFM), but the noise is unbearable. The humming noise coming from the fan is as loud as vacuum machine (even at lowest speed). The high-pitch knocking noise coming from the compressor is 2x louder than my refrigerator. Maybe works for living room but not recommended for bedroom (even at day time).

I am not impressed by it, it does not cool an area like it states on the box. My living area is smaller than 2,500 sgft.

I have one in the front of my house and ine in the back. It keeps my house cool.

I recommend this product only if you're not afraid to make some mods which may void a warrantee. Out of the box, followed instructions, it didn't work well for my 250 sqft apartment. Single hose systems blow air out your window, but that air has to come into your room from another source. In my case it pulled musty dusty warm air into the apartment from every crack and crevice around baseboards, door frames, electrical outlets, and even the bathroom vent. It's effectiveness and efficiency was terrible without having some relatively cool and clean source for air to enter the room. I happen to be an engineer and modified the intake with a 10" diameter intake hose to supply intake air flow from outside effectively making it a dual hose system. Now it can make my apartment feel like a walk in refrigerator if I let it. It can cool the whole space down from 90F to 70F within a few minutes. I'm very happy with it. I used two 10" Duct Take-offs from Home Depot (one for the unit, and one for the window): https://www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Flow-10-in-Starting-Collar-Take-Off-Snap-Together-SCF10/100396962 And I purchased a 10" accordion duct hose with steel hose clamps from another supplier (couldn't find them at Home Depot). See the attached pictures. You should note that the take off on the unit had to be squished into an ellipse shape to fit the intake dimensions, but the hose and hose clamp still worked great. I did the math, do not try to use smaller than 10" hose diameter or you could create an air flow deficit to the heat exchanger. Don't want to overheat your unit. Other thoughts on install: Hot air can leak from the joints where the 6" diameter hot air hose attaches to the window attachment and the unit. I used the adhesive foam insulation provided with the unit to provide a gasket seal to keep the hot air from leaking. This 6" hose does get warm which implies that some heat comes back into the room just through the wall of the hose, but I find it minimal and not worth insulating more like other people have commented about. Stopping the hot air leak is more important than more hose insulation. I live in a very humid environment and this does pull a lot of moisture out of the air. Once I got the intake fixed I would generate a gallon in a few hours and overflow my bucket. I certainly couldn't leave it overnight without a larger drain bucket. It made the air so dry that I started having dry sinus problems. But the solution was really simple. I took the water drain hose and just laid it over the hot air outlet. This utilized the heat from the hose wall to re evaporate the water coming out of the hose and re-humidified the room. The bucket never gets full, and my room stays cool and humidified. So overall, I'm very happy with the unit, but not without my modifications, and I wouldn't suggest you buy this unless you're up for that kind of project. I'm afraid its disappointing right out of the box.

I depend on reviews to make certain purchases.Problems sleeping hot bedroom? This is the solution. I went through that. Average sized bedroom, estimated 16'x14'. This machined made our bedroom the place to be. The background hum, "white noise"for me. I awake feeling rested, upbeat fully charged. Home Depot priced it affordable, I did the research. Stuck with the manufactured warranty, ching- ching, savings baby! Sharing my smart choice.This machine is theraputic. Your only decision should be size (btus). Value shoppers get their monies worth. Smart shoppers best choice. Follow the instructions, you'll be pleased.

Bought last summer and would barely cool my 150sq ft bedroom and this summer it’s barely working and I rely on my ceiling fan ... not overly impressed as it says it’s good for a room 250 sq ft ... my aging dog is not happy either .....

The "follow me" feature on the remote control is nice as there is a built-in thermostat in the remote and you can set the temperature from it so the unit maintains the temperature at the remote. The vent either swivels or stays put depending on how you set it. You can set turn on and turn off timers to have it start cooling an hour before you get home, which is convenient. Plenty of foam material is included for installation but keep in mind that all portable air conditioners suck in air from other rooms or outside to equalize the pressure from the hot air they blow outside, unless they are "dual hose", which makes them less efficient than window units. Overall I am impressed and happy with this Toshiba portable air conditioner.

This is a great unit, however, you MUST wrap the exhaust hose with some sort of reflectix material in order to make sure that the hot air gets expelled outside. I used the window reflective material and completely wrapped it and it does a great job!

It keeps my bedroom super cool, very easy to install and fairly attractive as an ac unit. Not very quiet however, but I'm very happy with the purchase.

Once in a awhile there will be a smell but after I clean and sanitize the filter on the back of the unit the smell is gone. It’s so cold i turn it off in the middle of the night just to stop shivering

Purchased this on March 6th 2021 and as of today, March 30th 2021 it has stopped working. I've tried everything to have it turn out but it won't Last portable a/c I owed lasted me 7 years+. Last time I purchase a Toshiba product if I'm not assisted.

Purchased in April and it kept our upstairs office cold for the whole summer. It's now fall and temps have dropped but the one day it's required my wife fires it up and it's making a horrendous noise. Upon inspection the internal fan blade for the compressor has shattered. Pieces are in the rear vent tube as well as scattered around the inside of the unit. There is no visible fan blade left on the motor. Currently working with Toshiba to get it repaired/replaced. Not sure what happened or how as the unit is sealed and has not moved since installed, but for pieces to be in the rear vent the fan blade must have literally exploded. Let the record show the a/c worked great though.

THE A.C. DEFINITELY KEEPS THE ROOM COOL ESPECIALLY IF HAVE A CEILING FAN. I BROUGHT ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO. I'M NOW HAVING A FILE SMELL IN MY ROOM WHEN I TURN IT ON; THE CONFUSION THING ABOUT IT IS; I DON'T SMELL THE BAD SMELL FROM THE VENT. I ALWAYS EMPTY THE WATER EVERY MONTH.

This A/C unit works wonders. I have a small apartment but it gets hot and humid so quick. The dehumidifier part is a godsend. It brings the temperature down at least 10 degrees from what the weather network forecasts. It's been wonderful especially during the pandemic.

Cools a medium room like a bulky, noisy dream. In a house without central air, this will make your family room or master bedroom cool or even cold. Single pipe portable ACs aren't the most efficient, and this one makes quite a drone, but this summer it's a lifesaver. And for the price, it's an easy decision.

I'm renting a duplex that doesn't have central air and had hoped to move before my second summer - but covid-19 changed my plans. As I work from home, I bought this unit for my 9' x 12' office. I also bought the larger 12,000 BTU unit (model RAC-PD1212CRRU), for my kitchen/dining room, which adjoins my living room. These units perform completely differently, despite being visually identical. Setting up the basic unit is easy - takes about 10-15 minutes. The issue is the window adapter - it really doesn't work with most vertical slider windows. Too short and very flimsy - requires tons of tape to keep it in place. The adapter for the outlet hose is a very poor design and falls off at the slightest breeze. I built several custom window adapters from plywood and storm window clips - the adapters are non-permanent and I've made four, so I can quickly move the air conditioning units between rooms. I can also open the window at night to cool off the house. This unit struggles to keep a small room cool, especially in high humidity. 98 degrees outside today and it runs constantly to keep this small office at 75 degrees. As opposed to it's 12K BTU big brother, this unit generates massive amounts of condensate - I empty the 2-1/2 gallon bucket 1-3 times a day. I got caught out shopping longer than expected and the bucket overfilled and flooded my carpet. As noted by just about everyone, the compressor motor and exhaust fan are insanely noisy. It is impossible to sleep with this unit running and it drowns out the audio during Skype/Teams meetings. I wish I had purchased the LG Dual Inverter, which is 80% more expensive, but far more quiet and more energy efficient. I'm so lucky that this has been a very mild summer. I cannot recommend this air conditioner.

We bought this unit for our bedroom. Works perfectly! Cooled the room fast.. were in a heat wave this week 110 degrees and you wouldnt know it. Its quiet also. I've seen reviews of people complaining about noise on portable ac's. Not ours. Its quieter now then when we had 2 fans running. The price of $329, $355 with tax is reasonable as well. Double thumbs up with a goofy face!!

This unit works quite well for keeping us comfortable and cool in our 10x12 bedroom at night. It has a hard time keeping up with the afternoon sun we get in our living room however. I will echo other reviewers who say the unit is loud - it is but not is loud that we can’t sleep. Installation was very easy and the wheels work well for moving the unit from room to room.

Have had this unit for two weeks and so far it has been a godsend. Easy to set up and vent. It maintains a steady temperature in my new sunroom.
