This week has seen the start of exam season in most schools in the UK which obviously puts lots of pressure on students however many people do not realise how much pressure it also puts on those responsible for grounds maintenance on school sites, be it internal groundskeepers, Local Authorities or contractors, especially in a year such as this with wet ground and now warm weather, the grass is very much in charge and they are constantly being told they need to keep noise to a minimum. Always surprises me how many people think the Mean Green range of electric mowers will be much heavier than a fossil fuelled mower, I think it must be the throwback from lead acid batteries in fork lifts and milk floats! The truth is that Lithium ion cells are very light in comparison and with much of the mower aluminium the weight is further reduced meaning the 52” cut mower pictured only weighs 520kgs. Great for trailer payloads and also the soft ground we are currently experiencing!

A dry weekend followed by a full day’s rain yesterday, it definitely isn’t drying up yet but as it does slowly get warmer the grass will be growing faster than most contractors can get around their sites.
