Overview

Biamplified with efficient EEEngine Technology for more powerful audio.

This biamplified 2-way monitor uses EEEngine (Energy Efficient Engine) Technology to deliver an ultra-cool and high-powered 310W punch to an advanced design 12" woofer (225W) and a 2" titanium-diaphragm compression driver (85W). The 90x40 constant directivity horn ensures crowd-covering sound dispersion. The back panel features a mixer section with mic and line inputs, gain control on each input, a 2-band EQ (low, high), and master volume with XLR and 1/4" I/O. And it's flyable, stackable, and pole mountable.

Biamplified Power
Biamplified power provides the best possible performance since the amplifier can be designed to work specifically with the speaker to which it is connected. This system also generates less distortion thus delivering cleaner sound than a conventional loudspeaker system. The MS300 utilizes built-in biamplified power for optimum sound performance.

In the MS300, a 225W low frequency power amplifier is utilized to drive the 12" woofer. The system's 2" titanium diaphragm compression driver is separately powered with an 85W high-frequency power amplifier. The system takes advantage of Yamaha's proprietary EEEngine (Energy Efficient Engine) Technology to deliver high-quality audio performance with greater efficiency while reducing current draw, heat, and weight.

EEEngine Technology
By means of a switching drive system, Yamaha's EEEngine Technology reduces AC power requirements and heat loss while maintaining output power and sound quality.

Input power is supplied through a high-efficiency current buffer. During low requirement periods, it transparently switches the input power on and off automatically as needed. As the signal becomes large, an independently responding auxiliary power line supplies the additional power, as required. The output isn't compromised because the auxiliary power line is driven by the power supply voltage, which can maintain the maximum output to the speaker load. The amplifiers make more efficient use of the AC power than conventional amplifier technology.

When conventional power amplifiers drive loads, they make use of only 20-30% of the electrical power they consume. In contrast, Yamaha's EEEngine technology is approximately twice as efficient. In other words, an EEEngine driven amplifier can obtain the same output as a conventional amplifier with only half the power consumption.

Wide Sound Dispersion
The MS300 delivers uniform coverage of high frequencies through the use of a constant directivity horn in conjunction with its 2" high frequency driver. The horn delivers a 90x40 dispersion for optimum audience coverage.

Mixer and Connections
The MS300 features a simple but effective mixer that is built into the rear panel. The mixer supplies independent mic and line inputs, complete with a separate gain control on each input, plus a 2-band EQ (Low, High) and a master volume control. Balanced XLR jacks are provided for mic and line inputs with an additional 1/4" line input. A parallel output jack sends the line signal to other speakers for convenient daisy-chaining. Connection of the sound source to the SW500 is via 2-channel XLR inputs. The same signal can be routed directly to the main speakers via 2-channel XLR outputs (thru) or via 2-channel XLR outputs equipped with high-pass filters (100Hz). The unit is also equipped with a variable high-cut frequency control to optimize integration of the subwoofer into a variety of sound systems.

Easy and Versatile Set Up
The MS300 can be set up a number of ways. It is flyable so you can suspend it from the ceiling; stackable so you can put it on the floor or placed on its side for use as floor monitor; and pole mountable so you can mount it on a speaker stand or to a pole seated in the SW500 Powered Subwoofer polemount. Optional mounting brackets allow the MS300 to be mounted on the wall or from the ceiling.
