At the end of last year, No Doubt frontwoman and The Voice judge Gwen Stefani was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But the real stars of the show were her three children, who surrounded her, cheered her on and suddenly seemed all grown up.

Her husband Blake Shelton reiterated their importance in her life, and his speech at the event had the “Don’t Speak” singer in tears.

“The first time that I ever met Gwen was in 2014. She wasn’t like any other famous person that I had ever met before,” he said. “It was clear to me that she was a mother first and foremost over anything else in the world – that was her No 1 job,” he added.

So who are the 54-year-old star’s three sons, Kingston, Apollo and Zuma, and are they likely to follow in her footsteps?

Stefani had all three of her children with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale. He’s the British frontman of rock band Bush, who were big in the 90s when Stefani was going stellar with No Doubt. The pair met when their bands toured together in 1995, per InStyle, and Stefani went on to marry Rossdale in an iconic, dip-dyed Christian Dior dress in London’s St Paul’s Cathedral in 2002.

The two have been coparenting since their divorce in 2015, with Rossdale admitting on the Not So Hollywood podcast that their parenting styles are very different. “I don’t think there’s much similarity in the way we bring them up, but I think that gives them an incredible perspective,” he said.

Country music singer – and Stefani’s co-host on The Voice – Blake Shelton has become a big part of the kids’ lives since the couple got together in 2015, according to People magazine.

“I don’t know if it’s as hard, or harder, or not as hard as being an actual, biological parent,” Blake told hosts Kimo and Heather on their California radio show, but added, “I have a stepfather in my life who’s one of my heroes … so I have a good inspiration for how to do this. I can’t imagine my life without these kids now.”

In a conversation with DJ Zane Lowe, Stefani recounted how she discovered she was dyslexic through her boys, who all had trouble reading at a young age. “I feel like a lot of the problems that I have had stem from that, because now the children – obviously, it’s all genetic – they have some of those issues,” she said, adding that her sons are thriving despite their condition.

“Now they get all these benefits. They have these incredible teachers, and they don’t have to have shame about it,” she said.

Kingston is a musician

The eldest of Stefani and Gavin’s three sons, 17-year-old Kingston James McGregor Rossdale, is already showing signs of following in his musical parents’ footsteps – particularly dad Gavin’s. Already an avid guitar player, last summer he made his onstage singing debut at his stepdad’s bar and clearly impressed his mum, who described the songs he wrote as amazing: “When it’s your kid, it’s like, you love everything, but this is next level to me,” she told People afterwards.

Despite only being 17, Kingston already seems to be in a long-term relationship with make-up artist and influencer Lola Albert. They’ve dated since he was 11, according to his Instagram. Last August, he dedicated a post to her on his account that said, “There’s no other way I would have wanted to spend these last six years. To many more together. I love you so much.” Aww.

Zuma is good at baseball

Born Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale in 2008, 15-year-old Zuma is thought to have been named after Zuma Beach in Malibu, per People. Stefani has joked that her middle son is her “twin” in the past, joyfully comparing photos of herself as a kid to his.

Zuma seems to be an impressive sportsman, with Gavin joking that his son has an “arm of gold” when it comes to playing baseball. “You can hit the life out of a ball that flies at 80mph,” he wrote about Zuma on Instagram in 2022. “You’re amazing.”

Apollo is already a good singer

The “Hollaback Girl” singer’s youngest son Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, nine, was born in 2014 when Stefani was 44. He also has two middle names. And while you may assume the son of two musicians was named after music legend David Bowie, you’d be wrong. Per Popsugar, they are in fact his grandmothers’ maiden names.

Apollo has already proved sporty like Zuma and musical like Kingston. In an interview with People last November, Gavin said Apollo had been cast in the lead role of his school’s musical and had “just beautiful pitch, melody, voice [and] tone”. He went on to say that his youngest also excels at flag football. “He’s quarterback. He’s really good,” the proud dad said.
