Choosing Thread: Color Matching Aurifil & Paintbrush Studio’s New Solids

In Summer 2022, Paintbrush Studio Solids released 42 new colors into their Painter’s Palette collection. This new rainbow of earthier solids is gorgeous to work with— but what Aurifil colors match best for quilting? Let’s take a look!

One of my favorite things about both Aurifil Thread and Painter’s Palette Solids is the beautiful array of rich colors to choose from. It’s a total myth that solids are boring— the right color combinations sparkle in a really special way. Conveniently, PBS provides thread matching suggestions for their original 168 colors (check that out here). But what about the 42 new solids released in 2022? I got out my color card and fabric swatches today to play a little matching game myself

Now, I’m not going to promise you that all these threads are the exact same color as the fabric, but they are close and are colors I would consider for quilting these fabrics.
