Sydney Sweeney has seen all the rumors about herself and is taking it all in stride. The actor made her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live on March 2 alongside musical guest Kasey Musgraves. During the opening monologue, Sweeney made sure to set the record straight about some rumors she's seen online, and a cameo from her co-star Glen Powell helped the joke land.

“While I'm up here, I do want to talk about some stuff I've seen about me online," Sweeney began. "Like I once said that I used to work at Universal Studios and then someone online accused me of lying about that, which is insane. If I didn't work there, how would I know all the Universal characters, like Shock, The Monions and Harry Porter.”

She also joked about a viral TikTok from a woman who claimed to be Sweeney's nutritionist. The actor said she's “never met her” and joked that she's in shape because “I run, avoid sugar, and do Ozempic.”

Sweeney then pivoted to those rumors that she and Powell were having an affair while filming their rom-com, Anyone But You. Fans were convinced (and still are) that their chemistry translated outside of filming — but Sweeney put those theories to bed by poking fun at it in the best way.

“I'd say the craziest rumor I've seen is that while I was filming Anyone But You, I was having an affair with my co-star Glen Powell," she said. "That's obviously not true. Me and my fiancé produced the movie together and he was there the entire shoot, and I just want to let everyone know that he's the man of my dreams and we're still together and stronger than ever.”

She continued: “He even came here tonight to support me. Can we cut to him?” The camera then cuts to Glen Powell, who is sitting in the crowd. The audience erupts in laughter before Sweeney quipped, “That's not my fiancé, he's in my dressing room!” (Sweeney is engaged to businessman Jonathan Davino. The pair have been linked since 2018.)

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell have addressed past rumors about their relationship, making sure people know that they're just friends. In an interview with Variety in August, Sweeney said that their flirty interactions are all part of the job. “It's a rom-com,” she told the publication. “That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker.”

The chemistry throughout their press tour may have done the trick, too; Anyone But You became a box office success, grossing more than $200 million worldwide. It became the highest-grossing R-rated romantic comedy since Bridget Jones's Baby in 2016. Whether it was because people yearn for more rom-coms or because Sweeney and Powell really sold it is the big question. Probably a combination of both.
