The Jaguar E-Type is an instantly recognisable shape even to a non-petrolhead - this particular example is something a bit special.
With the long bonnet and a 4.2L inline-six hiding underneath, it is thing of beauty. It isn't just pretty to look at, it also has an ability to get up and go. With 0-60mph dispatched in ~7.0 seconds and on to a top speed exceeding 150mph - quite a thing in the '60s.
This specific car lived in Texas until 2017 when it was brought back to the UK by Jaguar Classic to go into their preparation and resale program. However, it ended up in storage as the project was cancelled and that's when Paul stepped in to buy it. It's had recent extensive servicing work which included a brake overhaul, new exhaust, and ignition system refresh. On top of that, the cabin is largely new too, making this a beautiful example of the "Series 1" FHC.

Hi Rodders
You can hopefully see from the images that the trunk floor is original and perfect. The rear main floors are the same and the only metalwork done on the car has been the replacement of the footwell pressings. This happens on even the driest E Types because of water leaks and jacking damage. These pressings are like baking trays – they just drop in. Correct reproduction panels have been fitted so they are accurate. The remainder of the underbody is original and corrosion free.

The car is remarkably leak free – this is amazing for one of these – its absoltely water tight and the engine had barely a misting of oil underneath after 200 miles let alone a leak.

what would be a ballpark number to send the car to ontario canada?
Hi Grampsc8 I can confirm from a recent Ontario import that RORO shipping from the UK to Halifax was CAD$1600, and then CAD$2000 for enclosed transport to Toronto. H used these guys:- https://ivssuk.com/vehicle-shipping-from-europe-to-canada/ It may be that travelling across Canada by train might be more cost effective since thats’ how I’ve had cars shipped out of Toronto typically. I used a company called Interspan for that, they may be able to advise. Plus insurance approx 1% ish. RORO compares to container shipping in that its more cost effective and in some respects safer in that the car isn’t being manhandled… Read more »

Hi Paul, This morning I forgot to ask you about demonstrating reverse gear. Does it engage easily and does the clutch bite without juddering?

Following a viewing this morning and with a warm engine we
rechecked and measured the hot oil pressure and compression pressures:-
Oil pressure at idle
30 psi (electrical gauge)
40 psi (mechanical gauge)
Compression pressures in psi:-

That in combination with a zero smoke exhaust under acceleration and what is one of the quietest XK engines I’ve heard, indicates that the engine is in superb health and is likely to have seen a professional rebuild in the not too distant past.

Based upon my experience I believe that the car is 100% sheetmetal original except for the footwell pressings that have been replaced. This is very common on even the most solid car because water finds its way into the carpets, plus they are often jacking damaged. The photos show the condition of the boot floor, the door lower edges etc. and its very clear that all of the sill outer and jacking point welding is factory. Hope that helps and I’ll show you when we meet.

Paul, not much is said about the solidness of the bodywork. It looks like new footwells are fitted. Is there any other metalwork that has been done, such as the boot pan, doorskins or sills?
I am hoping to visit tomorrow at 10 am but waiting to hear confirmation
