Country Operations Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience in strategy consulting or similar work requiring program or project management.
  • Experience in working with or in the context of AI: products, regulation, perception.
  • Ability to communicate in English and German fluently to support internal stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in supporting heterogeneous groups of people.
  • A tolerance for ambiguity and ability to work in a fast-changing environment, with an entrepreneurial approach.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong executive presence and demonstrated influencing skills.

The Business Strategy & Operations organization provides business critical insights using analytics, ensures cross functional alignment of goals and execution, and helps teams drive strategic partnerships and new initiatives forward. We stay focused on aligning the highest-level company priorities with effective day-to-day operations, and help evolve early stage ideas into future-growth initiatives.

As a Country Operations Manager you will exceed at navigating and partnering with cross-functional teams beyond Ads, along business critical key priorities. You’ll have a natural bias to action, being able to drive projects and initiatives forward in a structured manner, while managing a heterogenous group of Googlers and leaders under public scrutiny. This unique role works on a cluster and country level, with a mandate to partner with the wider EMEA community in order to support maximum alignment of cross-functional strategy and efficiency of operations in your region.

The Go-to-Market Operations (GtM) team ensures Google's complex and ever-evolving Ads business runs smoothly. We are instrumental in setting go-to-market strategy, and ensuring flawless execution and operations against the strategy. We have teams embedded in each of the major Ads business areas as well as global teams that work across the business areas. Team members are analytical and strategic, with a pragmatic sense of how to get things done.

Responsibilities

  • Drive complex cross-functional projects and initiatives, with a majority of projects relating to Google Germany’s AI initiatives (e.g., establishing Google as leader for AI, helping society and partners to benefit from Google AI). Work across product areas (Ads, Cloud, Hardware etc.) and across functions (Brand and Reputation, Governmental Affairs and Public Policy, Sales, Engineering, HR, and more).
  • Act as key contributor with very limited guidance, working autonomously with most senior leads and VPs. This include acting as subject matter expert, solving ambiguous problems, influencing across teams to align direction, actively developing relationships to internal experts and leads.
  • Drive best-practice sharing across similar archetype markets, actively collaborate with expertise and connections cross-country and towards EMEA Strategy and Operations teams.
  • Be able to project manage projects of the Velocity Leadership team and wider working group(s).
