Senior Staff Software Engineer, Databases, Postgres, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience coding in C/C++.
  • Experience in computer science and software development.
  • Experience working in Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service in large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience in database internals and postgres and driving changes to Cloud Database kernel.
  • Experience in transaction processing, SQL, query performance, query plans and optimization.
  • Experience working in database kernel/internals.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$337,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Leverage database internals expertise to implement changes to the Cloud Database kernel.
  • Grow and mentor other engineers on database specific topics.
  • Contribute to the open source PostgreSQL community.
  • Drive the design and implementation of major components and projects across the database stack for Google Cloud.
