Minimum qualifications:
- JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
- 3 years of relevant attorney level experience with media and entertainment commercial marketing agreements in a media, marketing or advertising company or law firm, with emphasis on truth in advertising, SAG-AFTRA, adtech, media buy, consumer protection, social media regulation or FTC compliance.
Preferred qualifications:
- 5 years of relevant experience with media and entertainment commercial marketing agreements in a media, marketing or advertising company or law firm.
- Experience advising clients in structuring complex commercial transactions, including new media content and advertising agreements.
- Experience in drafting licenses and intellectual property agreements, advertising services agreements and sales agreements.
- Understanding of media and content license language and rights, copyright law, fair use, trademark law, and personality rights for the US.
- Knowledge of advertising law, including FTC regulations such as claims substantiation and disclosure regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, especially relating to contract interpretation.
About the job
The Central Marketing Legal team is responsible for handling the most creative aspects of Google. We support commercial and product counseling for all Marketing Product Areas including Android, Play, Gemini, Ads, Media Lab, Growth Lab, Sports Lab and more.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $210,000-$312,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. - Provide legal advice to Marketing teams from the initial stages of product/project development through launch.
- Respond promptly to legal requests from Marketing, Business Development, and other clients, summarizing and communicating legal concepts that business people can use.
- Advise business clients, as well as HR, Finance and other company colleagues, on legal issues and risks, complex agreement structures, approval processes, company policies and procedures, IP and business strategy. Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes.
- Review, draft and manage licenses and intellectual property agreements, and advertising services agreements on a daily basis.
- Manage agreements that comply with company policies and risk tolerance.
