Director, UX, Google Consumer Health

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, Comupter Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience leading multi-disciplinary UX teams.
  • 3 years of experience with the intersection of hardware, software/UI, and user research.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in design for new interaction paradigms or new computing platforms.
  • Experience driving vision, product alignment, and taking new products from concept to launch.
  • Experience in large organizational management, aligning cross-company teams.
  • Experience working across multiple platforms, with the ability to switch between low-level product details and high-level ecosystem needs.

About the job

In this role, you will be the head of the Google Consumer Health UX team, consisting of our UX Design and UX Engineering team and in tight collaboration with our UXR, UXW, and UXPgm teams.

As a leader in the Google Consumer Health team, you'll engage with researchers, product managers and engineers within a dynamic, product-focused setting. We foster close collaboration among our teams and with numerous teams across Google to deliver the pinnacle of Google's offerings to our customers. Your input will shape the future of our portfolio and enhance consumers' interactions with the best of Google.

This role manages managers, and is fully accountable for strategic direction, staff, cost, methods, performance, and more.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $253,000-$363,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive work creating a UX strategy and vision that is informed by the industry landscape, and align strategy, processes, and decision-making across the organization. Ensure the appropriate metrics, organizational structure, and people are in place for success.
  • Develop and oversee the UXD teams with an equity-focused talent strategy that is aligned to the organization’s short and long-term business strategy, which includes ensuring a strong leadership bench. 
  • Make key decisions for the UX team that drive the high-level direction, vision, and strategy required to solve business and user needs.
  • Influence strategy and oversee multiple cross-functional teams. Define and ensure the UX strategy, direction, and decisions are integrated, aligned, and positioned to support the business and organization.
  • Hold teams accountable for creating a culture belonging to inclusive, respectful, and equitable practices.
