Internal Communications Specialist

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in media, communications, PR, or allied fields.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in project management or event management, supporting executives or leading cross-functional programs.
  • Ability to think, plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously, and work efficiently with a global team of colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to work separately and drive projects effectively.
  • Ability to grow in ambiguity and take creative risks.
  • Excellent team player, with the ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

About the job

As a member of the Internal Communications team based in India, you will be responsible for devising creative and interesting ways to articulate the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company values, strategy and culture in India. You will need to be a strong communicator, sourcing compelling stories, understanding and breaking down complex topics. You will work with leaders to communicate to a wide variety of internal audiences across live events, videos, podcasts, emails, newsletters, blog posts and more.

It's our job to help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders--and our own employees--about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture/values, and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. To succeed here, you'll combine creativity with organizational skills to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously, as well as enjoy pitching to journalists, bloggers and commentators, or producing internal communications and events for our employees. Things happen quickly at Google and to get stuff done here you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally and isn't hesitant to take risks or try new things.

Responsibilities

  • Work with leaders and cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, engineers, operations, site leads, site program managers) to create and lead effective internal communications to our employees.
  • Create strategic and creative campaigns to engage and inform employees across India, and showcase India in global forums.
  • Lead site-wide or country wide town halls, events, executive visits, etc.
  • Write communications, presentations, talking points and change communications. Recommend solutions to enhance and build a strong culture in our offices.
  • Own and run internal news engines including blogs, newsletters, podcasts, and other multimedia storytelling channels.
