Senior Counsel, Legal

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in advisory, litigation, and regulatory within the intellectual property and technology related areas in the MENA region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to build effective relationships across relevant stakeholders.
  • Outstanding verbal/written communication and people skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of legal matters.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a quick turnaround.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Arabic fluently in order to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders on a range of legal matters.

Responsibilities

  • Advise executives, business teams, and cross-functional partners on a broad range of legal matters across the MENA region, including commercial agreements, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, content moderation, data protection, and consumer protection.
  • Anticipate and assess legal risks, developing creative and effective strategies to mitigate or eliminate potential issues.
  • Take on significant legal challenges that span multiple areas of law and require a deep understanding of MENA's unique legal landscape.
  • Provide timely and comprehensive legal support to internal and external stakeholders on a wide range of issues including litigation, regulatory inquiries, product related issues, and commercial agreements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse network of external counsel throughout the MENA region, ensuring Google receives expert legal guidance on complex and nuanced issues raised across the region.
