UX Design Manager, YouTube Trust and Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • 3 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing teams across multiple locations and timezones.
  • Experience designing for internal tooling or other enterprise software products.
  • Experience leading teams of designers working towards a common goal.
  • Ability to work within a technical business environment with an understanding of technical requirements and limitations.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries to define, manage, and prioritize work.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate interaction concepts to different audiences across organizational levels.

About the job

The team is responsible for defining and enforcing safety standards that ensure that content and behaviors that cause user or societal harm do not degrade the quality of the product and the community it supports. The team is tasked with building out the infrastructure, tools, and support systems used to keep YouTube safe and works with various groups to help make a safer web for everyone. In this role, you will manage a team that is responsible for automating the processes and ensuring efficient utilization of reviewers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $168,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Understand the business needs and operating environment of Trust and Safety to develop product strategies and roadmaps that allow the team to achieve safety at scale.
  • Identify opportunities to innovate and improve Trust and Safety tools and processes.
  • Partner with UX Research team to identify high impact gaps in knowledge, advocate for the efforts of the team, and collaborate across YouTube Trust and Safety, YouTube UX, and Google Trust ad Safety to find alignment opportunities and make products better. 
  • Collaborate with the Product Management and Engineering Leaders within YouTube Trust and Safety to make tradeoffs.
  • Build relationships and operating rhythms to drive user experiences that are cohesive, inclusive, and well-informed.
