About the job

Finance Project Managers drive critical priorities for Google by leading and assisting in projects of all sizes. Drawing from your strong financial background, you work with a diverse team to manage projects from concept to implementation and keep Google-wide stakeholders informed as you go. You get down into the details of complex analyses without losing sight of the overall objective. When working on multiple projects at once, you intuitively know which issues to highlight and can bring key decision makers together to come up with effective solutions. Once a project is completed, you're able to clearly communicate the results and draw the key learnings for senior management. You are efficient and organized, making the most of everyone's abilities and holding the team to a high standard.

In the Google Procurement Organization (GPO), we unlock value for Google to reinvest in what matters most. We do this by bringing velocity, efficiency, and security to buying at Google, while partnering deeply across Google to deliver solutions fit for purpose. As a centralized organization operating in a high complexity environment, we bring "one voice" to stakeholders and suppliers to ensure the best outcomes. Our organization fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation while providing opportunities for ongoing career growth and development.

Within the Google Procurement Organization, the Functional Strategy & Transformation team supports GPO’s ongoing transformation through program and change management.

In this role, you will serve as a partner to GPO pillars and leadership, providing comprehensive support and guidance to enhance operational efficiency, align initiatives with strategic goals, manage resources effectively, and drive continuous improvement within GPO.

The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and align programs and projects with GPO's overall strategic goals, and ensure individual projects contribute to the broader objectives of GPO.
  • Support management of resources across various projects and optimization of resource allocation to ensure efficient utilization and prioritization of tasks.
  • Help identify and manage risks that may impact project delivery or program success, and work to resolve issues and mitigate risks promptly.
  • Facilitate communication between project teams, stakeholders, and leadership, and ensure transparency while keeping stakeholders informed about project progress, risks, and changes.
  • Monitor the performance of various programs and projects, track key metrics, and generate reports for leadership to make informed decisions, including evaluating project outcomes against predefined goals and KPIs.
