Group Product Manager, Google Spanner

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of experience in product management, consulting, co-founder or related technical role
  • 5 years of experience building and shipping technical products
  • Experience with distributed systems, databases, or cloud technology

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing products from conception to launch and working with cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing business strategy and execution
  • Ability to work with executives, product leaders, and executive engineering leaders

We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users.

Cloud Spanner is an enterprise-grade, globally distributed, strongly consistent database that is built for the cloud and offers relational semantics at pretty much any scale. As the database technology that powers most of the services on Google and Google Cloud Platform, Spanner is one of the most innovative and critical services for supporting high scale, business-critical workloads. The primary mission of our team is to enable businesses to deliver highly scalable, secure, performant, and reliable solutions without needing to manage any of the heavy-lifting associated with managing large-scale distributed databases.

In this role, you will provide leadership for one of the largest and innovative database systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build a clear understanding of database technologies, market trends, and customer requirements to help shape the overall product strategy. 
  • Interact with customers and partners to understand their key requirements and help define a credible product roadmap.
  • Drive product development collaborating closely with engineering, user-experience design, finance, product operations, marketing, and field teams.
  • Drive positioning, pricing, and go to market strategy for our launches.
