With less of an emphasis on test scores, Chicago Magazine has released its 2016 list of the best Chicago and suburban public schools.
The No. 5 elementary school in Will County is Pioneer Elementary School in Bolingbrook. It has an enrollment of 795 students through K-5 and spends $7,489 per pupil. The attendance rate is 96 percent.
Coming in at No. 1 is Eisenhower Academy. According to the report, 100 percent of fourth-graders met or exceeded state standards on the science section of the 2013 ISAT.
The school has a total enrollment of 262 students in grades first through fifth. Eisenhower spends $5,556 per pupil and has an attendance rate of 97 percent.

Romeoville High School ranked No. 3 in the top 5 high schools in Will County. Spots No. 1 and 2 went to Lincoln-Way East High School and Lincoln-Way Central. In spots 4 and 5 were Lincoln-Way West High School and Lockport Township High School.
For this year’s public school rankings, the magazine “talked to top professionals and educators inside and outside the school system, researched a wide array of new and improved metrics, drilled down deeper on the numbers, and asked the independent research nonprofit RTI International to crunch the data to generate the fairest possible results.”
