Woolworths, often locally referred to as Woolies, is a South African multinational retail company, headquartered in Cape Town. The company operates a chain of department stores in numerous countries, offering food, clothing, homeware, and cosmetics products. The company also operates Woolworths Financial Services, which provides financial services such as credit cards, store cards, and personal loans to consumers. The parent company of Woolworths and WFS, Woolworths Holdings Limited, also owns Australian retailer Country Road Group. Despite sharing the same name, Woolworths in South Africa has no association to the Australian Woolworths supermarket chain. In addition to stores offering a mix of Woolies products, food-exclusive stores and "Food Stops" attached to Engen petrol stations are found in various urban areas. Woolworths operates 218 full-line stores and 430 food stand-alone stores in South Africa, with 64 stores throughout the rest of Africa. Woolworths sells clothing and accessories under a number of brand names, including Studio W, RE, and Edition, as well as under the Group's Australian brand names; Country Road, Witchery, and Trenery.
