Features overview
Google Input Tools can help you type more easily in your desired language. We currently provide several kinds of text input tools:
- IME (Input Method Editors) maps your keystrokes to another language using a conversion engine.
- Transliteration converts sounds/phonetics of text in a language to another one that best matches the sounds. For example, transliteration converts “namaste” to “नमस्ते” in Hindi.
- Virtual keyboard displays a keyboard on your screen that maps to the keys on your actual keyboard. You can type directly in another language based on the on-screen keyboard layout.
- Handwriting lets you type in text by drawing characters with your fingers. Handwriting is currently only available in Google Input Tools Chrome extension.
