COMBINATION BEER BOTTLE AND GLASS..
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o. 640,860,1dated January 9, 1900. Application tiled July 15, 1897. Serial No. 644,622).A C N'o'model.)
To @ZZ whom, t may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM BAUM, Jr., of Sullivan, in the county of Franklin and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combination Beer Bottle and Glass; and I do hereby declare the`following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in bottles, andhas more particular relation to a combined bottle and drinking receptacle or cup. v A
The invention consists of the combination, with a main body portion or bottle, of a top portion detachably mounted thereon and adapted to be usedeas a drinking cup or glass,- and a base portion also detachaol y mounted on the body portion and adapted to act as a support for the detachable cup portion.
The invention also consists of certain other novel constructions, combinations, and arrangements of parts, all of which will be hereinafter more particularly set forth andclaimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 represents a central vertical section through a bottle embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a similar view through the detachable cap or glass and its base-support. Fig. 3 represents a central vertical section through a' modified arrangement of my improvement.
1 in the drawings represents the main body portion of the bottle; 2, the removable cup or glass; 3, the detachable base; 4, the detachable bottom of the bottle, and 5 the sealingstopper. Said portion 1 is preferably cylindltical in shape and is formed with a contracted neck 6. The u pper portion of said bottle'is screw-threaded externally, as at 7, so as 'to be engaged by the internal screw-threads 8,
`formed upon the lower cylindrical portion of the drinking cup or glass- 2, the upper portion of the same being contracted, as at 9, toform the neck of the bottle, and screw-threaded externally, as at 10. The screw-threaded stopper 5, which is preferably of glass, is mounted in said neck portion 9 by means of the internal threads 10. The lower, end of the body portion 1 is open and the side wallsscrewthreaded externally, as at 12, so as to engage the annular screw-threaded flange 13, formed ed flange 16, mounted upon the base 3, to'hold the latter in position upon the bottom of the bottle when not in use.
An annular internally screw threaded ange 17 is secured to thel upper surface of the base 3 at its center and is adapted to normally project up into the dome 14 when the base is in position upon the bottom'of the bottle.
When it is desired to remove the portion 2 to utilize the same as a glass, as shown in Fig. 2, the base 3 is first unscrewed and said portion 2 then removed from the top 1 andits screwthreads 11 screwed into the annular fiange 17, `the base forming a firm support for the glass and preventing` any lateral tipping of the same.
In the application of my invention shown in Fig. 3 the base 3 and the bottom 4 are first removed and the neck 11 screwed into said base-flange 17, as before described. With this adjustment of my invention a much larger glass is secured than in the adjustment shown in Fig. 2.
It will be observed from the foregoing description that the several parts of my improved bottle are altogether detachable, so that the same may be replaced if broken or cleaned when necessary.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secureby Letters Patent, isf l v 1. 'Ifhe combination with a bottle portion proper, of a detachable portion secured to the upper end of the body portion, a detachablebottom for said body portion, and a detachablejbase secured over said bottom, substantially as described. v
2. -Thev combination with a bottle portion proper, of a detachablecup portion secured to the upper end of the same, and a detachable base secured to the lower end of said bottle and provided with a central annular supporting-flange inside of which the upper IOO end of a detachable cup portion may be in-l serted, substantially as described. Q
3. The combination with a bottle portion proper screw-threaded at its upper and lower ends, of a serew-threaded detachable cup p01*-, tion applied to the upper end of said bottle portion and having a screw-threaded Beek and a screw-threaded base applied to lche lower end of said bottle portion and having an annular screw-threaded ange adapted to receive the screw-threaded neck of said botf tle portion, substantially as described.
4. The leombination with a, body portion having a detaehable bottom formed with a "5 dome'shaped portion, of a detachable base portion applied over said bottom and having an annular ange which projects up into said dome-shapedportiom and a detachable cup portion applied to the upper end of the body portion and having a contracted neck adapt- 'ed to be inserted into the annular ange of the base portion, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM BAUM. JUNIOR.
