Let's see your Turquoise paint

I am getting ready to paint my 69 c10 LWB. I would like to use the original color, but I haven't been able to find any finished projects painted #511 Turquoise. How rare is this color on a Chevy? I have read that it was more of a GMC color option (is this true?). The truck is very basic, it only has 5 options on the SPI:
C50 H D Rear Springs (taken off and put in storage)
511 Turquoise
E81 Pickup-Box Floor (New red oak floor going in)
Z53 Ammeter-Oil Gauge
623 Turquoise Vinyl Trim
307 3spd. manual everything.
Upgrades include:
Rebuilt motor and heads. New intake, 4bbl Carb, Cam, and electronic ign. Headers, 2 1/2" Dual exhaust with H pipe. Front disc conversion, 4, 6 drop, shock relocation, adj. track bar. Blazer tank conversion. Electric Cooling fan. 17 x 8 wheels and new tires. New rockers and cab floor patches. There are still a few things to do, but I want to get it back on the Road in the next 2 months. This sight has been great in getting to where I am at this point. I hope to be able to post some pics after I get some color on it.

Re: Let's see your Turquoise paint

I think all but two of those trucks is medium green. One is a darker green and one might be the 511 turquoise.

I found one GMC truck that was the turqoise color I wanted at a junkyard, but the SPID was missing. I kept looking and think I found a match. The current color code is 1862, color number 53B, and is called turqoise metalic or poly. Here is the radio delete I took from it to match.

Re: Let's see your Turquoise paint

1969 had #511 Turquoise Poly on GMC only, according to these color charts.

1970 had #529 Med. Blue-Green Poly which appears to look more like a true turquoise to me.

71 & 72 didn't show a Turquoise color.

Here are the color charts for 1969 & 1970.

Re: Let's see your Turquoise paint

cparman,
Nice looking truck! That is what I am looking for. Even though mine did not come with a two tone paint job, I still want to do the white cab. Mine was repainted at some time with a green color and I found the original color under that really looked good. Thanks for sharing and if there are any more, keep them coming!

Re: Let's see your Turquoise paint

My 69 I had repainted 12 yrs ago is torquoise. That was the original color as I bought it from the 1st owner. This is an eye catching color. And have gotten a lot of comments. These are shots from the Paris, Tn Board meet.

Re: Let's see your Turquoise paint

What I've found even harder to find than the turqoise paint is the teal or aqua colored interior pads to match. Anyone have that code for the die kits to paint vinyl the right color? I was looking at a late 60's mustang that had an aqua colored interior that might be a close match.

I like the 1970 #529.
Think I'll two tone mine with #529 and white!

Re: Let's see your Turquoise paint

599 "dark green". Don't see it on the paint chart, above. Truck is clearly aqua/turquoise....doesn't look dark green to me. Wanting to get some "rattle can" mixed up to spot paint a couple of areas, but not if I can't get the right paint code.

Oh, and try finding aqua interior pieces..........

My suburban is 511 on the inside. At some point in a past life it was shot blue on the outside but it will be going back 511. I have a bunch of pic's on my build that should the 511 color. Sorry for the random pic's. Just trying to get shots of the color.

Re: Let's see your Turquoise paint

I think theses two truck are the Turquoise but the codes are different because they are the two tone codes but they say turquoise and are both 69's. The truck with the cap is the big block truck

Beter late than never here is some information.
Your 70 GMC's paint code 599, denotes a truck painted 512 GREEN,DARK (Ditzler 2206 DK Blue-Green Poly) in the Special Two-Tone scheme with a White roof and White below the lower bodyside moldings.
