For the squares I see still on the road around here it is. Then again, don't see too many on the road round here anymore.

I don't think it's rare; I'm sure we built several million of 'em -

I had an 87 R10 SWB Gold Middle, black top and bottom. Only one I have even seen, have seen 2 LWB, if it was the same one 5 years apart.

Re: Are these rare two tone colors?

The 89 suburban I bought for parts was black and grey. Dad had an 83 or so that was those two tone colors as well. All I have of it is a very poor scan of an old photo.

Re: Are these rare two tone colors?

I think the black and gray combo is fairly common, there are a couple of those running around here, C10 and K10 versions. The dark blue and gray I haven't seen in awhile.

Chris - can you confirm for me that is the "ZY6" paint scheme?

That pattern was developed by a couple motorhead technicians at the GM Milford Proving Ground (rather than the more usual GM Design Studio).

Well the truck is in storage for a few more weeks. So i can not confirm 100% But... I do have the vintage vehical package, wich so far proves to be 100%. Its says ZH3 "Wrangler Two Tone" Sorry.

As i side note, if have any info, pics, storys relating to wranglers I would love to see or learn about them. Info on wranglers is hard to come by as all info on squares relates to US modles. Always ment to ask you.

Re: Are these rare two tone colors?

Yep - it's factory - RPO ZY6.

In fact, that's the paint scheme I mentioned was developed by two mechanics horsing around at the GM Milford Proving Ground.

It is very unusual for any kind of styling/design package to come from anywhere other than the GM Design Studio in Warren, and - since the Studio has the final say - they usually do not "greenlight" anything for production that was not invented by the Studio.

We didn't build as many of the ZY6 as we did, say ZY4 or ZY5, so it's "rare-er" in that regard, but we probably built a billion with those two colors put together.

I'm not sure I actually said this, but I have been credited with saying: "...there are no rare squares...". Whether I said it or not it certainly conveys my perspective.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Red on the top; purple on the bottom.

In my neck of the woods any color is getting rare, I can go a couple days without seeing a square on the road.
Maybe not so in other parts of the country....

At least I have 3 in my driveway I can look at

I really like this paint scheme. It is ideal for hear in Phoenix as you don't have to have a dark HOT color on top. Was this only on the lower end models that didn't have the lower mouldings?

funny you should mention, this car was originally sold in arizona!! it still has the dealer decal on the tailgate, i'll take a picture of it tomorrow and post it up for ya'll to see.

i went ahead and snapped another couple of pics of the pretty worn matching interior and a few shots of the paint job at other angles. i apologize for the truck being so dirty, i've had a busy week and have not had the chance to properly wash the truck as good as it deserves. Also, the grill looks funky on both pictures because of the shadow from the car parked in front of it.
