Here's the GM Heritage Center info packet for '79.

Download this and it will tell you everything about your truck - not only colors but option content and availability, etc.

Here's a link to the factory color codes for '79 models trucks, and you can also search every other make & model as well... it lists the paint codes for PPG and Dupont paints

Oh wait, wrong board. I am consider B7 Jamacan Blue for mine, it is a 69 Dodge color, although Dusk blue from a 69 Camaro is pretty sweet.

ok - trying again -

So here's the info packet for a '77 Chevy pickup....this will tell you the color codes (page 11, Hawaiian, Mariner and "Lite" blue) and also about the stripe package (page 14, RPO ZY5 exterior decor package) -

Re: What is the name of the factory dark blue, and light blue colors?

That's the nice things about color names, everyone calls them something different, especially year to year despite them being the same. GM might call it one thing, PPG another, DuPont yet something else. It all boils down to the paint code however, that will always result in the same thing. Manufacturers used all different paint lines throughout the years, so it is impossible to really know what brand is on what truck. Keith might have a little better insight on that.

Re: What is the name of the factory dark blue, and light blue colors?

You are absolutely correct.

Each color gets a "working name" at the Design Studio (think "working title", like in the movies). Then as it's rolled out to each Marketing Division they create their own noun names for the exact same color.

That's why it's always best to work with the RPO code or the WA number when known.
