How Rare is this Shamrock Green '79 Silverado?

Hi guys. My buddy and I have been buying some trucks we think are interesting and I wanted to get your opinions on this truck and if it's what the seller told us. First off it's supposed to be a very rare color- Shamrock Green Code 43. Was told only a handful were painted this color- and even less with a white bucket seat interior!
You can see it came with some pretty good options-
Silverado
350 V8
Auto trans
Cruise control
Tach
Tilt
Buckets and Console
Power windows and locks
Sliding rear window
Deluxe bumpers
AM/FM radio
Int. wipers
Chrome grille

And I'm VERY thankful that with all those options it still has the small cool exterior mirrors- not the ugly jumbo ones.

Now my question is are the buckets added or original? They aren't on the SPID, but what is the last item- XMM4 MYSTIC VIN?

Re: How Rare is this Shamrock Green '79 Silverado?

The truck has never been repainted and we were the ones to lower it and change the wheels. The rest is totally factory so it would be weird that ONLY the seats were ever changed.

Line up picture is our current collection- all 4 are original paint.
1978 Siverado - Black- V8, Auto, Air, Tilt, Cruise, Full Gauges w/clock.
1979 Siverado- Shamrock Green- described above.
1978 Custom Deluxe- Medium Blue w/Silver roof- SUPER CLEAN low miles, 6 cylinder, Auto, Air, PS/PB- drives like a new truck.
1971 Custom 10-Fleet Yellow- was special ordered for a school district and driven by the Superintendant.

Mystic is the name of the white interior, I'm working on a 79 gmc, and it has the same interior. The truck I'm working on is "Dads79gmc", I'm sure he will comment, as it looks to be the exact same setup.

Re: How Rare is this Shamrock Green '79 Silverado?

Gotta love the interior. Seats are correct, more than likely recovered? Could be the camera, seats looks more white than mystic. i had my seats recovered and I don't think I got the color correct???? I ordered a piece of kick panel in "mystic" from USA1 just to compare my seat colors with what they believe is "mystic"? Love the truck!!!

Re: How Rare is this Shamrock Green '79 Silverado?

GREAT! Thanks for the info!

Was the Mystic interior available with every paint color or just certain ones?

Now how rare or not rare is that paint code? I don't remember seeing any this color, but that doesn't mean it's rare.

Also how come some trucks have EVERY option listed like Power Steering, Power Brakes, Cab Belt Trim, Ralley Wheels, Wheel Lip Moldings, Side Trim Moldings listed on the SPID and this one doesn't?

Re: How Rare is this Shamrock Green '79 Silverado?

I would guess that alot of the extra trim, and things like that fell under the "silverado equipment" package.

That is a gorgeous truck. The wheels and stance is sweet!
All those options are part of the Silverado package.

Want to add a charcoal truck to your line up?

I bought a truck that color years ago cause I thought the color was rarely seen. Turned out there were dozens around so not as rare as I thought at the time.

Here's the generic info packet from the GM Heritage Center.

https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...olet-Truck.pdf

It shows what options are available and in what combinations.

The door carpet is kind of unique, trim and vent are mystic. It seems most others, at least the reproduction stuff is basically same color (hue) as the carpet. Gonna have to have mine remade. Mike

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

The ugly jumbo mirrors match the truck a lot better than those little ones that look like they go on a 3 year old's tricycle. For a happy medium, I'd like to see the stock ones just shrank by maybe 25%.

Re: How Rare is this Shamrock Green '79 Silverado?

I don't know how rare the Shamrock Green is but it looks like it was only available on 79 and 80 trucks, called Bright Green on some paint charts.
I have a similar truck that's a 4x4 longbed. Code 43 Shamrock Green with a white bucket seat interior. Pretty well loaded also.
Sliding rear window
Air conditioning
Speed control
Auto transmission
Dual fuel tanks
Styled wheels
Cargo lamp
Tachometer
Chromed grill
Chromed rear step bumper
Silverado equip
Power windows and locks
Tinted glass
Inter windshield wipers
Camper mirrors
3.73 axle ratio
400 ci 4 barrel
Camper body wiring
AM/FM radio
Chromed front bumper
Front tow hooks
Bucket seats and console
Door edge guards
Inside hood release
Comfortilt steering
Everything is original and in working order. I've often wondered how rare this truck is. I've never personally seen one like it.

Those are the “stock ones”.

They are RPO D49 and are the base mirror.

And look 100x better vs. the larger units. I just don't like the bulkiness of the later/larger ones.

As badly as I wanted one, I refused to purchase an 87 truck new when it could not be had with the small mirrors.

My dad and I always ordered the small mirrors (the red truck is an '87).

When they were no longer available he kept telling me to go talk to the mirror release engineer to voice his opinion and see what could be done.

It got so bad that when the mirror guy would see me coming down the hall he would sneak off and go the other way.

Re: How Rare is this Shamrock Green '79 Silverado?

In regards to the bucket seat interior. The SPID on my truck shows XMG4 MY CUS VIN HI B for the white bucket seat interior. The truck is Shamrock Green and the dash pad, carpet, and lower door panel carpet are all green. XMG4 got you the matching carpet and dash pad, otherwise you got a gray dashpad and carpet. I read that this option was only available if you ordered the truck in Shamrock Green, Carmine Red, Brown or Blue. I don't recall the codes for the brown and blue. The buckets were the same ones that came in a Blazer of the same year. The passenger seat in the BLazer slid forward and tilted. There was no reason for the bucket seat in a pickup to slide and tilt and instead it was made stationary. No way to adjust the seat. The passenger seat sits about 2" higher than the drivers side. You don't notice the difference much from inside but you can see the difference when you look at the seats through the back window.
