Brewster Green paint
I am getting close to painting my 73 Brewster Green Trans am. When I bought the car it had been painted red. Under the rear spoiler the original Brewster Green paint was like new. My question is it is hard to make out if there is metallic in the color. The body shop said there book shows there is but the orginal color on the car does not. The color to me looks exactly like the old british racing green color. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

NO metallic & it IS BRG. It's a pretty COOL color,BRIGHT green in the SUN & turns to BLACK on a cloudy day or at night. I need to shoot this one in the BRIGHT SUN,all my pics are BLACK! |

Yeap, great color! Gotta like it or for some of us LOVE IT!
Thats right D, no metallic in it at all. I think Rolls Royce started it but I might be wrong? never really looked into where it originated from? Toomany, I wanted to know what happen to the other side of that wheel molding? great formula and want to buy it when your done with her. Please give me first cracks if ever interested in turning that car. Love that color! |

2ManyT/A's and a few Formulas thrown in for good measure.
He says 2 many, but I don't think he really feels that way about it.

Brewster,
I think you meant Brian fart, not Brain fart. Is this Brewster color is like cat nip for you or something. Just kidding...... Seriously, how close is this to a taditional BRG color? I guess that's a loaded question; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_racing_green D

We matched up the BRG color to Brewster Green at the body shop and it was dead on. i saw no difference from the original brewster green paint. It is a cool color you rarely ever see. I agree with the comment that when it is in the sun it looks green and on a cloudy day it almost looks black. Now if someone would make a nice deluxe saddle interior for the car I would be happy.

Brew, thought this info might interest you, Brewster Green was the standard color for Stanley Steamers around 1910/11 Regards Bruce.

I was wondering if anybody would pick up on the 1/2 order of B96's. When we painted it(in 1997?),I was running 15" black steelies with Bottle Caps & with all that dark going on in the wheel house,it needed some bright,so I installed the wheelhouse moldings on one side to see if it would help. It DIDN'T,so I tossed a set of Rally II's at it,which solved the problem IMMEDIATELY. I still go back & forth on whether I like it better with or without the trim. (there haven't been MANY people that noticed the one sided deal. Here it is "being GREEN"! The Rally II's SURE change it's character. The GREEN HORNET really like to POSE for the camera, did you notice? Last edited by 2manyT/A'S; 05-16-2008 at 04:25 AM. |

Stanley Steamer, Really? thats a good trivia question!
That Formula looks great with either set of rims however those old center caps on those Rally II's sure look good. Its that Red brings them out a little more then the stock ones. I love the wheel molding trim on those cars but I have to admit that dull clean look sure makes the car look like a sleeper. Hard call and I'd probably go with what ever he came with originally to end the tie breaker. Great car and I'd like more pictures in order to save the best for my screen saver. You should still have my email address (if not PM me) and if you could on some rainy day please feel free. I'll have to show the wife these that you've posted to stir the kettle. Killer car and I'd love to see it in person, Brew |

In regards to Brithish Racing Green matching Brewster Green, I repectfully disagree. Although close, BRG has more yellow in it. When my car was painted, we sprayed a sample card of each and they definately are different. Also, there wasn't any metalic in it from the factory.
If you have the original paint under the spoiler, do a color match with it. |

2many, why is the steering wheel and column black with that package. I would have thought it to match the rest of the interior trim group and be saddle? at least thats the way my 73 Formula was?

I changed out the belts & wheel/column,because there was too much saddle in there & the black makes for a subtle contrast, don't you think? I believe standard trim would have netted you black belts & column/wheel with saddle interior. Last edited by 2manyT/A'S; 05-16-2008 at 11:06 AM. |

2many, may I ask if you added the trim to the pedals as well? I don't believe they started that, that early on but I may be mistaken.

Gary on my car there is no metallic in the original green. I totally agree. The body man is using a paint system by matrix. I don't know much about this paint system. Code 48 came out different than the color of the car. He showed me a paint sample of British racing green and it was dead on. I will tell him about the other codes guys have offered and try to compare. Thanks for the heads up.

My 73 Brewster Saddle car has a black column and seat belts. At first I thought that the belts where changed but they have all the correct date codes and have the original carpet underneath them. Has anyone else had this? was this common amongst 73's?
