The story of my Super Beetle is a rather strange one as Beetle stories go. Almost 2 years ago I bought a '99 New Beetle because I have always liked Beetles but realized that they made absolutely no sense to drive on a daily basis in winter weather that Michigan has to offer. In October me and my grandparents went to color tour event sponsored by the West Michigan Vintage Volkswagen Club and during that time my grandparents warmed up to the idea of buying a Beetle. After about a month of searching and a few dead leads we went to Holland, MI and looked at a '74 Super Beetle we found at www.collectorcartraderonline.com
After test driving the car we learned that there was alot to like. The car was solid, reasonably taken care of, and it ran great. Over the next few months we plan to have body work done and possibly next year have the interior redone. In the meantime the car scoots all over the thumb of Michigan as a plaything for me and my grandparents.
