1983 Daytona Pace Car Trans Am

The 1983 25th anniversary Daytona 500 Limited edition Trans Am was designed to commemorate PMD's 25th season as pace car for the Daytona 500 stock car race. On its exterior, the car featured special mid-body two-tone paint with white upper finish and midnight sand gray metallic lower finish.

It included a special Aero package consisting of rocker panel extensions, front and rear fascia extensions, air dam, rocker fences, grille pads and special covers on its 15x7 in. turbo-aero aluminum wheels. There were also sport hood applique', locking fuel filler door, tinted glass, power antenna and special Daytona 500 25th Anniversary graphics.

Under the hood were 2 power team combinations LU5-5.0 liter V-8 Crossfire EFI w/4speed auto trans only,or LG4-5.0Liter V-8 4bbl.w/5 speed manual transmission only. Also included was the WS6 special performance package, including four wheel disc brakes and limited-slip differential.

According to the press release that announced this special model on November 1, 1982, Pontiac Produced exactly 2,500 units, 1980 CFI automatics and 520 LG4 5-speeds. The price of this model was in the $18,000 range.
