An interior color option for the 86' non SS's was light green. I know some exist, there was one that would be at the NMCOA IIRC but surely the color interior is somewhat rare. I'm wondering if anyone on here has, or pics of, an 86' with this interior color. It was only available with white or green paint from the factory, per the literature.

No, I'm not thinking of switching to this interior color smile but since it does seem so hard to find, interested in seeing pictures, especially the dash trim since it would be 86-88 style.

The one you're thinking of would be Don Menge's 86, a sweet car all around!!

My car from high school was a 1981 colored as pictured in the link above with the light green interior. I think I had some interior shot of it that I can scan in. It was a dusty/gray-green and quite pleasant looking. I did a quick web search and came up blank - looks nothing like the green interiors google picks up.

edit - Looks like I didn't keep any interior pictures. This is the only one with the windows down so you can get a hint of the interior color. I had forgot about the striping on the car (hard to see since I used silver). I also had the front and rear window trim bead blasted and painted black,,, along with the wheel center caps.

As indicated by Paul, literature confirms it was called Light Green in 86
https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs/gm...Monte-Carlo.pdf

In 81 it was thinking it was called Jade Green but wasn't sure. However, it is confirmed below - in 81 you could order it in Black, Light Jade, Jade, White, and Silver. I don't think I ever saw it in anything but the Jade, Light Jade, Two Toned Jade, and White cars.
https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs/gm...Monte-Carlo.pdf

So it looks like they called it Jade in 81 and 82, Fern in 1983 and 1984, then started calling Light Green in 1985 - 1987 (not available in 88)

Too bad these weren't scanned in color.

Hmm, the seats/door panels look gray to me, I think the dash almost appears slightly green, maybe due to the sun going through the windshield?

Wonder how many were made with the interior color, seems hard to find even pictures of. I didn't take any of the 86' at the NMCOA when I saw the car in person.

Mike, ever have any 86-88 dash trim in the green? I think if I came across a set I'd try to get it just to add to my oddball 4th gen parts collection laugh .

Yep the interior is "Fern" since according to the interior/exterior options the only interior available in 1984 for the Fern green exteriors is the fern green. The dash looks a little more green than I remember and that's a different cloth/trim level than what I had in my 81. In person (at least my 81) it presents more of a dusty gray green but you could definitely tell it was green. The cloth seats and door panel trim in the pictures in that link looks a lot closer to gray that green in those pictures though.

Thanks for the pic...any details on the car or where you found it? So close to gray.

The Nats were just this past weekend, maybe some pics were taken of the one I remember that seemed to be there each year.

Well I just picked up a green/green 87'LS. Will be a parts car but runs/drives ok, drove it over a half hour home. Too rotted but the color combo had me intrigued. Will post pics soon.

cool find.

i had a few pics i found of google on ls's and one sc in green. and i actually had a pic of a local ls with t tops i snapped a pic of that was green. i thought that it was maroon with green paint but after reexamining my pic its green interior. looks rough but ive considered offering him money for it. ive always had a thing for green cars. would post a pic but i forgot how lol.

the parts cars are abundant up north geez. down south we just have a bunch of ragged rust free cars with owners delusional about restoring them.

Some people would probably have visions of restoring this or other cars that are simply too rotted out. I'll save someone from it lmao . I'd rather be around clean cars that are too nice to part out and instead build up. Frame and body both are rusted pretty good so far in my viewing. Plan to clean it up for a quick photo op before dismantling, which might not happen right away anyway. Might even take a few pics of both LS's together.

No keys for doors/trunk so I got the trunk open through the backseat. At least have RPO's to look at and paint codes. An August of 86' build so really early for an 87'. I think this green and a couple of the unpopular paint codes were dropped sometime in the 87' model year too in looking at the GM restoration packet and dealer info. Could only get this green with the green or white paint. Surprisingly saddle was available with a lot of colors like dark blue, never saw that combo though.

Took me awhile to make sure it was a green interior, even after having two gray 86-88's for this long to know what gray is poke . Verrry close to gray.

Here is the first pic of it in my possession taken this morning before work. Also the RPO and build sheet found behind the back seat, the GM manual says light green metallic for exterior/light green for interior but the build sheet references the color name sage.

IIRC, Scott had an SC at the Decatur show that was green and had the green interior, my memory is struggling to remember!

Some of the pictures I used the vivid setting on my camera to help pull out more color. I borrowed the checker wheels from the silver LS to help make it look a little better wink

Wow, those images are zoomed in a bit. Might have to look at my brochures, wonder what color green that paint is, the interior looks about the same shade though.
