FAQs: Middle and Upper School Library

How long do books go out for?

  • Most books circulate for 4 weeks.  Books can be renewed once for another 4-week period if no one else has placed a hold on the book.
  • New arrivals circulate for 2 weeks and can be renewed once if no one has placed a hold on them.
  • Reference books are intended for in-house use but may be checked out overnight at the end of the school day with the permission of a librarian.

How many books can I take at a time?

  • You can sign out 3 books from the new arrivals shelf at a time.  You can check out 25 books from the other collections (fiction and nonfiction).

When are my books due back?

  • You can find the due dates for your books by logging into your personal account.  See the information below to learn how to log in.

How do I log into my account? (Video)

  • To log into your personal account, click on the "My Account" tab at the top of the library homepage or on "Log In" at the top right corner of the online catalog.
  • Enter your 5-digit student number as the library card number, and the default password "abc123" as the PIN.  Click "Log In."

How do I renew books online?

  • To renew an item, log into your account (see the instructions above).
  • Click on "Account Activity" to see the list of items you have checked out, along with the due dates.
  • Click "Renew Loan" for any item you want to renew.
  • If the item does not renew, you've either hit your renewal limit (1 renewal per item) or someone else has placed a hold on the item so it is not renewable.

How do I create an EZ login for my account?

  • If you have trouble remembering your 5-digit student number, you can create an EZ login and password.  To do this, you'll need to sign in with your student number once (contact a librarian at library@kentplace.org if you've forgotten it or if you need help) and then click on your account name in the top right corner of the catalog. 
  • Select EZ Username from the left menu, enter any username and password you choose, and click Save.  
  • From now on you'll be able to log into your account using either your EZ username and password, or with the standard 5-digit student number and default password.
