Nick Pope: 7/10

An evident change of scenery for the England goalkeeper this evening as he found himself playing the role of spectator at Wembley, with his team-controlling possession throughout the ninety minutes.

He was denied the chance to make a good impression in front of the England manager with the Euros fast approaching due to the opposition not threatening him at all, however, another clean sheet for your home country is most definitely something to be savored regardless of the opposition.

Reece James: 8/10

The Chelsea right-back found himself with most of the ball in the opposition half. He impressed with his overlap on the wide player and had the crossing prowess to supplement.

With right-back being a position so heavily filled, James will have done nothing to harm his reputation with the England boss.

John Stones: 7/10

The Manchester City center-back was probably comfortable with the idea of his side controlling possession due to that being a familiar playing style at his parent club.

The defender is also no stranger to the feeling of playing at Wembley due to the countless number of times Manchester City have competed for trophies on that exact pitch.

Conor Coady: 7/10

A comfortable evening alongside his makeshift center-half partner, looking comfortable on the ball and exhibiting the intent to move the ball forward.

He also found himself a threat in the air when in attacking transitions, which is sure to please manager, Gareth Southgate.

Ben Chilwell: 8/10

With Chelsea players dominating the England full-back positions tonight, they made sure to play their part moving forward and use the chemistry to their advantage as they consistently picked the other out with precise cross-field passes.

This helped England to transition going forward with the overlap; looking to swing a dangerous ball into the penalty area.

Kalvin Phillips: 6/10

A below par performance; struggling to find his feet within the game after seeing several passes fly astray.

However, he was able to eventually pick himself up and due to very little attacking pressure from the opposition, the Leeds man was able to claw his way back into the game.

James Ward-Prowse: 9/10

The creative midfielder was back to his best tonight with most of England’s attacking influence flowing through him. He started the scoring off, subsequently opening the floodgates to allow England to take full control of proceedings.

The Southampton man was agonizingly close to a stunning second with one of his free-kicks being superbly tipped onto the post, which would have rounded off a standout performance.

Mason Mount: 7/10

A good array of minutes for the midfielder saw him play a big part in the transition of moving the ball forward and creating dangerous attacks. He also was intelligent in the manner of drawing fouls from the opposition to allow the home side to regroup in attack.

He was, however, brought off on the stroke of half-time with the England manager looking ahead to the rest of the fixtures in which are being played in quick succession.

Jesse Lingard: 8/10

Following on from a successful second half of the campaign, Lingard had the desire and confidence to impress Gareth Southgate after he was recalled to the squad.

The attacking midfielder was left wondering how he did not cement his name on the score sheet after finding numerous attempts brilliantly saved from the opposition’s keeper. However, driving forward, he linked up well in attack and carried a presence, leaving him difficult to dispossess.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin: 9/10

The Everton striker led the line with full authority, scoring a brace to ensure his side won by a comfortable margin. A noticeable outlook of this was his constant ability to hold the ball up under pressure and find a teammate, ensuring his sides free flowing attacking game was not lost on him.

His presence in the box was one too big for the opposition defenders as they struggled to come up with a plan to diffuse his movement in the box.

Raheem Sterling: 8/10

England’s captain for the evening showed a thoroughly professional display as he led his team to a victory that never once looked in doubt from the opening seconds of the game.

This match was over as a contest within the first few minutes and the Manchester City attacker made sure it was executed to surgical precision under the Wembley lights.
